Personally I loved the paragraph:
Together with the publications that have obsessively promulgated disgustingly false attacks against me, you have done all you can to destroy my reputation, how do I get my reputation back?

Re: trump (the former guy)
I was just peeking at tfg’s Telegram account and noticed that he commented regarding the crowd size…

Some claimed those photos weren’t representative and posted their own. Gotta win the high school popularity contest, I guess.

Crowd but empty seats. Local press not exactly objective.

That letter is dated the 27th. By then, the trial was winding up so there would not have been anything to pay attention to, except that inconvenient not guilty verdict.

Re: trump (the former guy)
I give it about 4,000-5,000 tops given the overall capacity (assuming that does not include floor seats. I assume the informed it was the state's highest event was something that he pulled out of his ass since it was not even the largest attendance at that venue, that week. Looks like the High School Graduation one the high school popularity contest. See the first set of pictures in the gallery. The back seats were full but there was some empty corner sections.pipistrelle wrote: ↑Tue May 31, 2022 9:19 pm Crowd but empty seats. Local press not exactly objective.

It is even more absurd when you remember that there is a university in Laramie that has football games that regularly have more than 20,000 in attendance. They were getting 7,000-8,000 in basketball this last season.
He would have fewer people harping on rally attendance if he did not make such a big deal about it himself. His obsession over attendance is an instant invite for folks to pile on.
Oh yeah, and Obama was in Laramie in 2008. Caption in photo says, more than 8,000 in attendance. The capacity of the Casper place is 8000.

Re: trump (the former guy)
One of the reasons I pay attention to it is his supporters use its as indisputable proof of the "Big Steal." Millions of people attend each of his rallies! So many! Look at those CROWDS! Clearly 500 million billion Americans voted for him. While ol' Sleepy Joe could barely muster up a couple dozen cars at his lame-o "rallies." Yes, I still see a lot of this.
Re: trump (the former guy)
How will he get his reputation back indeed!
Trump just sent a third letter to the Pulitzer Prize board demanding that they strip the NYT of their award for Russiagate reporting: “You have done all you can to destroy my reputation, how do I get my reputation back?”

He still has his reputation. He just doesn't like it much.

tfg had to lower himself to be President.

Chester Arthur just wanted to smoke cigars, wench, and gamble all day, but he stepped up to the plate when he was thrust into the Presidency.

Also too, many of the founding fathers were well off and probably found presidential perks a bit of a comedown. But unlike tfg they were interested in the prosperity of the country, not their own.

No one lowers themself to be President, it is a great honor and can’t be purchased with money.

Lowered himself to being the most powerful person in the world. (I almost wrote leader .)

Re: trump (the former guy)
That Trump "stepped down" to accept the Presidency of the United States is one of the chief elements of his (pure bullshit) hagiography. Has anyone compiled a list of all the completely fabricated saintly attributes that are ascribed to Trump by his followers?
Another one is that he worked tirelessly for the common American.

Re: trump (the former guy)
U.S. Grant comes to mind, along with most of the others mentioned. Also Washington who was probably the wealthiest man in North America at the time and Eisenhower who wasn't rich but seriously considered being a 5 Star General a much better gig. So much so that after he left the White House he not only asked Kennedy to reappoint him as General of the Army which he had to resign to serve, but he insisted on being addressed as "General" and not "Mr. President' or "Former President" until the day he died.
(and no he wasn't retired, there is no provision in law for a 5 star military officer to retire, they're full time till they die)
Also too, none of the above were assholes.

So his descend on the escalator to announce his candidacy was a metaphor of Zeus coming down from Mount Olympus to be a mere king to us mortals?
You don't need religion to have morals. If you can't determine right from wrong then you lack empathy, not religion.
