Prosecutors to seek 2-month jail sentence for Jan 6 defendant Dawn Bancroft, who was accused of entering Capitol twice (briefly) amid mob ... and recording video after saying: " We were looking for Nancy to shoot her in the frickin’ brain. But we didn’t find her."

I'm surprised so many tourists expected to see grizzes at the Capitol. Did they mistake it for Yellowstone?

Sentencing has not been light for this behavior...

Yeah, I know. The ones getting the light sentences have been mouthy jerks wandering around, but not necessarily beating up the police. Just musing on the "tourist" comment and how it was just a peaceful demonstration. With bear spray. Like tourists carry bear spray around DC.

It takes some brass ones to file some absolute horse [expletive deleted] like that with the court asking for leniency.

So... a high-level Capitol riot defendant (accused of bringing tactical vest & baton to Capitol) files court motion arguing the Trump officials who are defying the Jan 6 Committee are also "creating an aura of suspicion" in the mind of prospective jurors in Capitol siege cases

Bear spray folks would have had to drive out there since you cannot take bear spray on a plane. I initially thought it was because it was stronger or something. It turns out it has less capsaicin (the irritating pepper part) than regular pepper spray. The difference with bear spray is that it is under a far greater pressure than standard pepper spray. This allows it to spay from a greater distance, like 30 feet, which you would want for a bear.

Pepper spray is meant to stop and disable an attacker up close. Bear spray is meant to make a bear uncomfortable, so they will stop and clean themselves while still at a greater distance, and you can get away (works better than a gun because you don't have to be accurate). Bear spray would still be uncomfortable on humans just not as though the spray up close could be dangerous because of the velocity.

No charges will be filed against the ‘Late Show’ crew arrested on Capitol Hill.

Federal prosecutors said Monday they have declined to bring charges against nine people associated with CBS’ “Late Show with Stephen Colbert” who were arrested in a building in the U.S. Capitol complex last month.

A spokesperson for the U.S. attorney’s office said it was not probable a conviction could be obtained and sustained given that the nine arrested had been invited and that their escorts had never asked them to leave the building.

“The Office would be required to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that these invited guests were guilty of the crime of unlawful entry because their escort chose to leave them unattended,” said Bill Miller, a spokesman for the U.S. attorney’s office. “We do not believe it is probable that the Office would be able to obtain and sustain convictions on these charges.”

Which is reason number 428 why their happy asses need to be hung from a yardarm wearing a sign saying "so it is for traitors".

Just sayin'.

I, of course, have to put in a vote for the good old Blood Eagle. Even if there's no strong evidence (other than it being written about in the Sagas and Eddas) that it existed, I think now would be the perfect time to change that, don't you?

The Man for whom the Guillotine is named did not invent it and was utterly horrified that his name had been attached to it. He advocated for a more humane method of execution than hanging (actually he was probably against execution full stop, but that wasn't a popular opinion) When the Machine was invented and put to work in response to his lobbying his name stuck rather than the inventors.
