So here is some interesting info, Trump is apparently a long time friend of the Union Boss who is behind the ILA dockworkers strike. How many unions have rejected 50% pay increases? Well, that is what happened here. I, and many others are of the opinion that this strike was orchestrated by Trump to cause problems for Biden and Kamala leading into election day. It's certainly not to improve things for the union as an impressive offer is on the table.

I just find this interesting.

The ILA dockworkers went out on strike at midnight on Tuesday.

Some folks were speculating that this was the October Surprise meant to cripple the economy and so propel Trump into the presidency.

Naturally DeSantis tried to get into the act. Earlier today he put out a tweet saying he would deploy the Florida National Guard and Florida State Guard to ports affected by the strike. The Guard would "maintain order and, where possible, resume operations at ports which are otherwise shut down." Yeah, untrained guardsmen would be scabs performing duties for which they had no training.

I was chatting my with sister-in-law last night and she was telling me that folks were starting to stock up on toilet paper in case this strike caused a shortage.

And of course Trump, in his speech today, proclaimed that he could get the strike over very quickly.

And now, two days after the strike started, it's over. Mostly. It won't affect the election. Trump won't be able to benefit from it. Toilet paper will not disappear from store shelves.

So... . Whatever.

Donald Trump unleashed a foul-mouthed tirade about undocumented immigrants and predicted that this “could be the last election we ever have” if Kamala Harris wins during a private fundraising dinner this summer.

The Guardian obtained a 12-minute recording of a speech that the Republican presidential nominee gave at a dinner on 10 August in Aspen, Colorado, where attendees were required to donate anywhere from $25,000 to $500,000 a couple.

Trump devoted most of his address to border security and immigration, recycling xenophobic claims now familiar from his rallies. “Radical leftwing lunatics” want people to come in from prisons, mental institutions and insane asylums, he asserted without evidence, adding that the US was harbouring “a record number of terrorists”.

The former president insisted that “smart, very streetwise” leaders of Venezuela and other South American countries were sending murderers and drug dealers to the US to reduce their own crime rates, relieve the burden on their prisons and save money.

Trump cited a false example of 22 people he claimed had come to the US after being released from prison in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. “We said, ‘Where do you come from?’ They said, ‘Prison’. ‘What did you do?’ ‘None of your fucking business what we did.’ You know why? Because they’re murderers.”

The candidate added, “I hate to use that foul language”, apparently recognising that his use of the F-word went further than his campaign rallies. The Congolese government has said there is no truth to Trump’s statements.

The candidate went on: “These are the toughest people. These people are coming in from Africa, from the Middle East. They’re coming in from all parts of Asia, the bad parts, the parts where they’re rough, and the only thing good is they make our criminals look extremely nice. They make our Hell’s Angels look like the nicest people on earth.”

Studies show that immigrants are less likely to commit crime than native-born Americans.

Trump flew to Aspen on a Gulfstream G-550 jet once owned by Jeffrey Epstein, the late disgraced financier and convicted sex offender, after his own private plane – a Boeing 757 known colloquially as Trump Force One – encountered engine trouble.

The dinner was held at the $38m home of the investors and art collectors John and Amy Phelan. Guests included the casino mogul Steve Wynn, billionaire businessman Thomas Peterffy, Texas governor Greg Abbott, Florida congressman Byron Donalds, Colorado congresswoman Lauren Boebert and former Colorado senator Cory Gardner.

Elon Musk plans to attend former President Trump’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, the billionaire announced in a post on X late Thursday.

Trump’s return to the scene of the first assassination attempt against his life had already raised concerns among local officials, per Axios Philadelphia’s Isaac Avilucea.

Representatives for Musk and Trump did not immediately respond to Axios’ request for further comment on the announcement by the owner of SpaceX and Tesla, who led a takeover of X when it was known as Twitter.

International Longshoreman's Association President Harold J. Daggett said he and other members of the union’s leadership have received death threats after the New York Post reported about his 7,136 square-foot mansion.

As a strike by 45,000 ILA members closed down 36 ports along the East and Gulf coasts, the tabloid posted pictures taken by a drone on its website showing the 10-acre property with a Bentley parked in front of a five-vehicle garage. The property includes a backyard patio, massive pool and a pool house. A brick pizza oven and sauna are also in the pool area.

Dagget's attorney Michael Critchley in a statement by the union called the publication of the pictures as "reckless" and places his family at "great risk of personal harm."

“Mr. Daggett has already received several threats to his life. The N.Y. Post must immediately remove these pictures from all versions of the article and refrain from any further publications of pictures of Mr. Daggett’s home," read the statement.
