Dad fell asleep in his chair so I took muscle relaxers and pain killers for my back and am lying down while I surf. On the agenda for this trip:

Replace the bottom shelf of the sink cabinet that was badly damaged by the leak I fixed on the last trip.
Help with some legal paperwork.
Help him finish getting signed up for Senior Homestead (reduced property taxes).
Find less expensive hearing aids to use while his $8k pair is off being fixed.
Misc computer maintenance.
Cooking.
Whatever else comes up.

The funnels on the ship should be raked toward the stern not toward the bow. ;)

Leave it to the GOP to be using a steam driven ship decades after that technology became obsolete.

Gotta return to King Coal somehow.

Very "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow"

A film so terrible it's actually rather good and with a ridiculously "A" list name cast, Jude Law, Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow, Stella McCartney, Michael Gambon..... utter flop but sooooooo much fun to watch

When a former impotus orders the aircraft carriers to run catapults by steam rather than new fangled magnetism or what ...

(and of course this will keep his coal miners happy)

If those miners are silly enough to vote for Trump they are silly enough to think a coal fired steam driven aircraft could fly.

Not to mention that the propellers would be half underwater when the plane was floating.

Also where does the combustion air for the coal enter the plane?

So many other things wrong.....

Yeah but art doesn't have to make sense. See M.C. Escher.

(I love the that image, BTW. That doesn't mean I believe a steam aeroplane is a thing.)

Jet engines are partially steam powered because the hydro part of hydrocarbon fuels burn to produce water. That is what produces contrails.

So... what you are saying is that chemtrails are true?

'Cause water vapour is a chemical, right?

I KNEW it. Just wait til Queue reads this?

Well, that may be true, mister smartypants actual real chemical engineer, but where in the combustion cycle do they make the chemtrails that have all the stuff in it that turns good honest conservative Americans into mind-controlled zombies and puppets of the evil libs?

BTW, there's at least one jet aircraft that emits copious amounts of visible particulate matter reminiscent of this steampunk contraption: a B-52 on full power takeoff. At least, until Rolls-Royce replaces the ancient TF33 engines with shiny new bizjet engines over the next 10 years or so.

(And good luck to Rolls with that project -- they'll need it. A former B-52 pilot told me that you can't even imagine the horrors that will await them when they start pulling engines off pylons and discover what sort of jerry-rigged engineering lies within. Since Pratt & Whitney built the engines and has been working with the USAF for 60 years on maintaining them, Rolls will not have access to all that tribal knowledge.)

That plane is too uber-leftist. It has windmills on the wings. Windmills are evil commie stuff. It only needs beautiful clean-burning coal and not the fancy liberal low-sulfur crap. The bigger the black cloud, the better.
