Blatant racism from @RonJohnsonWI here. He says he wasn’t worried on 1/6 because the majority-white insurrectionists who stormed the Capitol “love this country,” but says if they were Black Lives Matter protestors he would’ve been concerned for his safety. #WISen
Does that mean that the moron has finally given up on accusing Antifa/BLM of dressing up as trump supporters to frame them?
This begs the question of how could someone supposedly busy with their legislative duties be so well informed about attackers of a building?

If you were involved in your work, and suddenly security was wisking you off to safety because an unruly crowd was breaching the doors, how would you know who they were?
Because you were complicit. Because you knew they were coming.

Judge Releases Two Videos Showing Jacob ‘QAnon Shaman’ Chansley ‘Blatantly Lied’ to 60 Minutes+

https://lawandcrime.com/u-s-capitol-sie ... ing-trial/
When deciding to keep Jacob Chansley behind bars pending trial, a federal judge wrote that the rioter who became known as the “QAnon Shaman” had “blatantly lied” in his 60 Minutes+ interview by claiming that authorities left the door open for the pro-Trump mob to enter. The court just released two videos debunking Chansley’s claim.

The two compelling videos document the chaos on the scene as rioters smashed through the windows of the U.S. Capitol building.

Senior Judge Royce Lamberth, a Ronald Reagan appointee, narrated what the footage showed.

“Not only is defendant unable to offer evidence substantiating his claim that he was waved into the Capitol, but evidence submitted by the government proves this claim false. A video submitted by the government captures rioters breaking through the windows of the Capitol building,” Lamberth wrote in a scathing 32-page opinion on March 8. “At the same moment that rioters smash the glass and crawl through the windows, the video pans over to show a large group of rioters walking through an adjacent doorway into the Capitol building. Included in that group is defendant, who is easily identifiable by his horned headdress.”

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A man accused of stealing a police officer’s badge during the deadly January assault on the U.S. Capitol and later burying it in his backyard was ordered returned to jail on Tuesday.

Beryl Howell, chief judge of Washington D.C.’s federal district court, ordered Buffalo, New York, resident Thomas Sibick jailed until his trial, which has not yet been scheduled. He faces multiple riot-related charges and was initially released on bail by a Buffalo federal magistrate.

In making her decision, Howell in court cited the latest evidence that showed Sibick was “convinced of the rightness of his actions” and that he “can’t be trusted” to abide by bail release conditions. Sibick demonstrated “enthusiastic participation” in the attack, Howell said.

Evidence showed that during rioting, Sibick tore off a badge and radio from the uniform of Washington Metropolitan police officer Mike Fanone, who was beaten by rioters, the judge said.

COLUMBIA — Two more South Carolina men, including a Citadel cadet, face charges connected with participating in the U.S. Capitol riot in January.

Elias Irizarry and Elliot Bishai face charges of knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building without lawful authority, knowingly engaging in disorderly or disruptive conduct in any restricted buildings, and violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds, according to federal court documents.

The men are not accused of any direct acts of violence during the Jan. 6 riot.

They were released on $25,000 unsecured bond after a hearing March 16 at the federal courthouse in Columbia. They have another hearing March 22. The men said nothing during the hearing.

Irizarry, 19, is a freshman at The Citadel who has hometowns in Fort Mill and just outside Los Angeles. He remains a cadet at the school pending an investigation, a spokeswoman said.
:snippity:
Irizarry received a gold star from The Citadel after earning a grade-point average of 3.7 or more in the fall semester, according to a school news release. On his Facebook profile he posted he is studying security and intelligence studies at The Citadel.

His father is veteran soap opera actor Vincent Irizarry, who appeared for years in “All My Children” and “Guiding Light.”

Lambert goes all Orly on Watkins  More from that L&C story:
The judge characterized the TV interview as little more than a “media publicity stunt” for Chansley’s lawyer Albert Watkins.

“Such media appearances are undoubtedly conducive to defense counsel’s fame. But they are not at all conducive to an argument that the only way defense counsel could privately communicate with his client is if defendant were temporarily released,” Lamberth wrote. “Given defense counsel’s decision to use what could have been a confidential videoconference on a media publicity stunt, that argument is so frivolous as to insult the court’s intelligence.”
Would Lamberth sanction Watkins for this? Guess keeping Chansley in jail is enough.

Lamberth on Taitz:
A prominent ‘birther’ and critic of President Obama has been chastised by a federal judge for “either toying with the Court or displaying her own stupidity” because she can’t seem to redact the right kind of information in court pleadings

The House is now voting on the bill to give Congressional Gold Medals to the Capitol Police. It's stalled twice amid opposition from the House Freedom Caucus, which wants changes to the language. Louie Gohmert, for one, doesn't like how it refers to Jan. 6 as an insurrection.

CNN: House votes to award Congressional Gold Medal to Capitol Police and Metropolitan Police Department

More details about Republican opposition at the link.
(CNN)The House of Representatives passed legislation in rare bipartisan fashion Wednesday to award the Congressional Gold Medal to officers of the US Capitol Police and the Metropolitan Police Department for their work protecting the Capitol on January 6.
The legislation provides for a third gold medal to be given to the Smithsonian to be displayed and for research purposes.
The final vote was 413-12 to award the law enforcement agencies for what House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has previously called "a moment of extraordinary heroism."

Twelve Republicans voted against the bipartisan legislation: Louie Gohmert of Texas, Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, Andy Biggs of Arizona, who chairs the Freedom Caucus, Thomas Massie of Kentucky, Andy Harris of Maryland, Lance Gooden of Texas, Matt Gaetz of Florida, Michael Cloud of Texas, Andrew Clyde of Georgia, Bob Good of Virginia, Greg Steube of Florida and John Rose of Tennessee.

Texas Man Arrested Outside of Gates to Naval Observatory in D.C. Has Been Identified. He Now Faces Weapons Charges.

https://lawandcrime.com/high-profile/te ... s-charges/
Fox 5 DC reported that Murray faces weapons charges, including for possessing unregistered ammunition, possession a large capacity ammunition feeding device, and carrying a dangerous weapon. The BOLO alert shared by Fox 5 DC reporter Lindsay Watts indicates that Murray was suffering a mental health crisis. The former Army drone operator was medically discharged from the military in 2014 and had recently purchased an AR-15—even telling his mother that he went to D.C. to “take care of his problem.”

“Subject has been experiencing paranoid delusions of people, mainly the military and government being after him and want to kill him. He recently purchased an AR-15 and may have it in his possession,” the alert said. “Mother received a text from home this morning stating he was in Washington DC and was going to take care of his problem.”

Authorities noted that Murray had “much longer” hair than he did when his driver’s license photo was taken. The image of him at the top of this story is consistent with that description.

Other details say Murray reported to police in Oct. 2020 that he believed he had been “drugged” or “poisoned” on a trip to Japan. As recently as March 3, he said he believed he had been attacked by a group called “3 Stones” overseas. Two days prior to that contact with the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office, he contacted the College Station Police Department. He went to the department lobby and said he wasn’t “getting enough support from the VA or local police” and “he’s been prescribed meds, but immediately stopped taking them all due to ‘intense’ side effects,” as the “subject activity summary” put it.
With his history he could buy an AR-15 with no problems.

FBI Washington Field Office Releases Videos of Assaults on Officers at U.S. Capitol, Seeks Public’s Help to Identify Suspects
The FBI’s Washington Field Office has released new information and videos of suspects in the most egregious assaults on federal officers during the riots at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, and is seeking the public’s help to identify them.

It has been two months since violent extremists breached the U.S. Capitol and committed a litany of federal criminal acts. With the assistance of hundreds of thousands of tips from the American people, the FBI has arrested more than 300 individuals who took part in the Capitol riots. Of those, more than 65 were arrested for assaulting law enforcement officers. However, some of the most violent offenders have yet to be identified, including the 10 seen assaulting officers in the video footage we are releasing today. https://www.fbi.gov/contact-us/field-of ... cts#Videos

“The FBI is asking for the public’s help in identifying 10 individuals suspected of being involved in some of the most violent attacks on officers who were protecting the U.S. Capitol and our democratic process on January 6,” said Steven M. D’Antuono, assistant director in charge of the FBI’s Washington Field Office. “These individuals are seen on video committing egregious crimes against those who have devoted their lives to protecting the American people.

“We’re grateful to the members of the public who have already been a tremendous help in these investigations,” ADIC D’Antuono said. “We know it can be a difficult decision to report information about family, friends, or coworkers, but it is the right thing to do, and the FBI continues to need your help to identify these suspects.”

If you have any information on the individuals depicted in the videos below, please call 1-800-CALL-FBI or submit a tip online at tips.fbi.gov. Please reference the AFO number when calling or submitting information online. To view photos of additional individuals the FBI is seeking to identify, visit fbi.gov/capitolviolence.

Large Majority of the Public Views Prosecution of Capitol Rioters as ‘Very Important’
March 18, 2021 | https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/20 ... important/
Similar shares of Americans view violent right-wing extremism, left-wing extremism as ‘major problems’ for the country
As the FBI and other federal law enforcement agencies continue to pursue charges against participants in the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol, the American public generally expresses strong support for continuing these efforts. Yet there are sizable partisan differences in attitudes about the riot at the Capitol, with Democrats far more likely than Republicans to view prosecution of the rioters as very important and to say that penalties for the rioters are likely to be less severe than they should be.

The survey by Pew Research Center, conducted March 1-7, 2021, among 12,055 U.S. adults who are members of the Center’s nationally representative American Trends Panel, finds a wide majority of Americans (69%) saying it is “very important” for federal law enforcement agencies to find and prosecute the people who broke into the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6. Another 18% say doing this is “somewhat important.” Just 12% say this is not too or not at all important.

Nearly half of Americans (47%) say the criminal penalties that the rioters will receive are likely to be less severe than they should be given what happened, while 22% say the penalties will be more severe than they should be. Only about three-in-ten (29%) expect the punishments will be about right.

https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/zo ... surrection
:snippity: The indictment quotes messages allegedly sent by an unnamed person described by the government as an “unindicted co-conspirator.” This person sent a message on Jan. 5 saying that Nordean, who goes by the nickname Rufio Panman, was “in charge.” This person also messaged members about not wearing identifying “colors” — the Proud Boys have identified themselves at previous demonstrations wearing black and yellow — and telling them to “be decentralized and use good judgment until further orders.” :snippity:
Hmmm. Who could that person be?
