"The fact is that a private photographer was permitted on the premises and for whatever reason an unnamed individual, clearly suffering from a mental health episode, decided to physically block members of President Trump's team during a very solemn ceremony," Cheung said in the statement.

The Trump campaign declined to make that footage immediately available.

JFK. Pushed? Pretty sure that's against the law.

I expect an arrest momentarily.

So we add "barging into Arlington to film campaign and commercial material" to the list of Things You Can Do When You're Above the Law.

I don't know about you, but I always give the "thumbs up" sign at the conclusion of solemn ceremonies in military graveyards.

Trump campaign staff had altercation with official at Arlington National Cemetery
August 27, 20246:55 PM ET
Heard on All Things Considered
Quil Lawrence, Tom Bowman

In a statement to NPR, Arlington National Cemetery said it "can confirm there was an incident, and a report was filed."
"Federal law prohibits political campaign or election-related activities within Army National Military Cemeteries, to include photographers, content creators or any other persons attending for purposes, or in direct support of a partisan political candidate's campaign," according to the statement. "Arlington National Cemetery reinforced and widely shared this law and its prohibitions with all participants."

9. Horns. The placement of your fingers to show horns, usually known as the symbol for “rock on,” has a different meaning in Spain, Greece, and Italy — where it is called the “corna” and is considered a suggestive gesture made to a man to imply that his wife is cheating on him. It dates back more than 2,500 years and signifies a bull’s horns.

10. Thumbs up. The thumbs-up sign does not mean “that’s great” in Australia as it does here. There, it means “up yours” or the painful-sounding “sit on it.” Basically, you are telling a person that you hope he gets something inserted up his bottom.

While thumb up may mean for some sit-on-it usually you need to be bending your arm up or raising it up at the same time to confer that meaning - more a stick this up ya..

Non motile thumb(s) up is still all good down here ;)

Context does matter as well

Eg “you old bastard” can be a statement of endearment or an invitation to violence depending on tone and context. :)

They’re a weird mob :)

I doubt Trump bothered to listen to any of the knowledgeable State Department experts who probably tried to tell him about various gestures and phrases to stay away from while representing the USA abroad. Of course, insults are pretty much his brand, so I guess it doesn't matter much.

I have lived in Australia for almost 40 years among people who are not afraid to express themselves.

I have never even come close to hearing an interpretation like that, nor anyone complain about such a thing.

I use it all the time to signal to waiters and bartenders in noisy venues and have never gotten anything but courteous, appreciation for the acknowledgement in return.

The Australian gesture you are looking for here is the "two finger salute", roughly equivalent to the "one finger bird" especially popular in USA. The two finger salute is the reverse of Churchill's "'V' for Victory". Where "V" has the palm is facing outward, the Two Finger Salute has the back of the hand facing outward.

And furthermore, Aussie's are just as happy to use the single finger too.

In the U.S., it'a also an alternative to the bunny ears the Walz kids did behind their father. But what the hades does it mean in a National Cemetery? Who were these people who thought grinning and doing horns was appropriate in this place? Unbelievable.

They were the props to Donnie using the death of their “loved one” to try to capitalise on the disastrous retreat from Afghanistan without him taking any responsibility for his “deal” with the Taliban.

Someone on Twitter said it was a female employee. And many people are saying it was Lewandowski who got physical.

Hollowed? :homophone: Oh, wait, they don't sound the same...

The desperation of trying to turn attention away from this disastrous thumbs up/horns/grins/smirks photo op to some poor employee doing their job.

The cheung spokesperson also tried to claim the employee was a mentally deranged old man. They're agressive with their nonsense.

That was the first thing I thought of. But I'm from Texas and my father went to UT.

If trump himself broke some kind of regulation by publishing this photo, would that violate the conditions of his bail for one of his cases? Not that anything would happen.

Do we know anything about the grave next to the one they're "visiting"? Is the family of that person ok with this?

No of course not. That's why he has a caddie dabbing his face with a towel. He can't even do that himself? Weird.
