Does this perhaps match up with the fact that a certain segment of females are attracted to inmates that they will likely never see in the free range?

It's not usually a good look for a candidate for US Senate when said candidate goes to court to ask that a gag order be imposed on the candidate's wife.

But this is Sean Parnell! He's the author of the number one best selling Kindle Afghan War Biography, "Outlaw Platoon"! He also wrote the novels "All Out War," "Left for Dead," "One True Patriot," and "Man of War."

:snippity:

And now Parnell has political aspirations. He, of course, announces his candidacies on Fox News. He's on Fox News as a regular. In the screenshot above he's telling Tucker Carlson that "critical race theory will cost lives on the battlefield."

:snippity:

He lost to Conor Lamb for a Pennsylvania House seat in 2020. Now he's running for the US Senate.

And now, true to Trump form, he's got problems with his treatment of women in his personal life, ahem. "Pennsylvania Republican Senate candidate Sean Parnell has asked a judge to seal records in his ongoing custody case and to ban his wife and her attorney from talking publicly about past protection-from-abuse orders against him — matters that have stirred political attacks and media scrutiny."
He's also the republican's top choice to run for governor next year.

"Acting Governor" is a thing.
TITLE 67
STATE GOVERNMENT AND STATE AFFAIRS
CHAPTER 8
EXECUTIVE AND ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICERS — GOVERNOR AND LIEUTENANT-GOVERNOR
67-805A. SUCCESSION TO OFFICE OF GOVERNOR. (1) In case of the death, resignation, or permanent removal from office for any cause of the governor, the lieutenant governor shall succeed to all of the powers, duties and emoluments of the office of governor for the residue of the term, and shall be, in all respects, the governor of the state. Upon such succession, the office of lieutenant governor is vacant, and shall be filled as provided by law.
(2) In case of temporary inability to perform his duties, or in the case of his temporary absence from the state, the lieutenant governor shall perform such duties as acting governor until the disability is removed, or until the governor returns to the state.
(3) In any case in which the lieutenant governor succeeds to the office of governor, the president pro tempore of the senate shall serve as acting lieutenant governor until the office of lieutenant governor is filled.
History:

I guess that ought to be modernized and adapted to the time of 27/7/365 availability of communications. It's no longer the age of the stage coach breaking down in the vast deserts of the wild west.

humblescribe wrote: Fri Oct 01, 2021 1:32 pm I dunno if this is the proper place or not. It may have been posted here in the past. Apologies if it has.

But this story came from The Guardian earlier today:

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics ... li=BBnb7Kz

This coalition really gets under my skin. It it not only the surreptitious nature of this group, but it also comprises a who's who of right-wing America. Factor in The Federalist Society and the moles this organization planted in TFG's White House, and this just flat out stinks.

(Are we supposed to believe Amy Covid Barrett's position that she can put her own beliefs aside and rule according to law when she was a card-carrying member of the Federalist Society until she had to revoke her membership when she was nominated to the bench a few years' back? Buffalo chips, if you ask me. You can take the girl out of the Federalist Society, but you cannot take the Federalist Society out of the girl.)

Yet we embrace these things as a nation because 1A and all that. I'm sorry if I piss off the lawyers on here. But Grandma always preached, "Moderation in all things." We are going too far afield of the 1A when this collection of assorted power brokers, business executives, politicians, and toadies can manipulate elected representatives and the bench to do their bidding.

I have no answers, of course. But it felt good to rant.
