Former Secretary of State Colin Powell died on Monday at the age of 84 due to complications from COVID-19, his family announced in a statement.
The family said the former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff had been fully vaccinated and was receiving treatment at Walter Reed National Medical Center.
Very sad. I wonder which vaccine he got and if he'd had a chance to get the booster? Even sadder that a true patriot dies at Walter Reed when the American Traitor was successfully treated there for COVID.

I didn't realize he had multiple myeloma and Parkinson's, among other co-morbid conditions, thus reducing his immune system's ability to process vaccines.
And THAT is why the unvaccinated fuckwads who keep screaming, "You're vaccinated, leave me alone!!!!" need to have their asses kicked.

What Slim said.
My grandmother died of multiple myeloma after suffering for a couple years. It’s a nasty cancer of the blood.

I met General Powell. He came to A&T and did a ROCKS visit for the cadets. I was a brand new Pershing Rifleman, and he hung out with us before he met with all cadets to talk about being a black officer in the United States military. He stressed ‘being a soldier,’ and I will never forget telling troops that all I ever wanted to be was a soldier. I read here that he was worth emulating as an army officer. So did I. I also got the chance to hear him speak while we were in Saudi Arabia doing Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was and still is a personal inspiration to me.
GEN Colin Powell. Warrior. Leader. Pershing Rifleman. Brother. REST IN POWER

Am I the only person here who thinks that it is deeply disturbing that a man of honor, principle and integrity like Colin Powell is deceased, while an evil, vile, wannabe Fascist like Donald Trump is still amongst us?

Yesterday I asked my husband at least 4 times how long it would take T***p to say something nasty about Colin Powell. We were surprised he took this long but not surprised that he did it:

I'd call trump a PoS but that would be insulting to excrement.

HRC was right about “deplorable”. What a despicable excuse for a human being.

That sounds great. There were already pushes to rename it and Powell, while from South Bronx not Brooklyn, it is still NYC so he has an attachment to the city. In the base renaming work, I would be pleased if they at least considered him for one of the bases. He makes a much better symbol than defeated confederate folks, especially now.

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory composer Leslie Bricusse dies aged 90
The Pinner-born composer and lyricist was behind tracks such as ‘Goldfinger’, ‘Feeling Good’ and ‘Pure Imagination’
I introduced to Bricuse as a lyricist in Roar of the Greasepaint Smell of the Crowd & Stop the World, I Want to Get Off

His work in Scrooge is marvelous. Hubby and I have made it a tradition to watch. I have enjoyed all of his lyrics starting with "Stop the World". What an amazing talent.
