Infuriating and troubling.

Here's a link to a series of panels on the topic of Autocracy in America. Took place July 23 2024 (yesterday) at NYU.

Norm Eisen was the organizer/show runner. The panelists included a lot of familiar faces, notably John Dean, Ruth Ben-Ghiat, Dahlia Lithwick, George Conway. Actually, here's the full list of panelists: George Conway, John Dean, Charlie Dent, Geoff Duncan, Keith Ellison, David Frum, Nancy Gertner, Alyssa Farah Griffin, Bob Kagan, Dahlia Lithwick, Sarah Longwell, Joanna Lydgate, Sarah Matthews, Norm Ornstein, Danya Perry, Skye Perryman, Matthew Platkin, Asha Rangappa, Jen Rubin, Olivia Troye, Steve Vladeck, Joe Walsh, Maya Wiley.

This was soooo good. And long. I want to recommend the panel with Dean, Olivia Troye, Joanna Lydgate, and Alyssa Griffin. Troye gives the most in-depth descriptions of being in meetings where "they", meaning WH people, refused to listen to facts and opening pushed to break the law. And the hearlessness. Betwen that and Dean's dire take (he's been writing about this for a long time, and really pushes the psychological problem with authoritairan personalities [you can't change them]).

That panel starts at around 2 h 50 min.
