I've often wondered why that occurs to none of these people.

1. We know how oblivious some can be to facts that conflict with their pre-ordained opinion. See Birthers.

2. Propaganda

Or Menendez. Or Cuellar. Or the investigation of Cory Bush.

Jen Psaki has James Comey on her show today. She did ask him his thoughts on difficulty housing tfg in a prison. He kind of had a different opinion than most, said just bring in a double wide and park it somewhere out in the boonies of the prison yard and he could stay there and eat his meals there too. I rather like that idea (just think, tfg is trailer trash  )

Although I do also like the idea of some real unpleasant community service.

I don't have a link and too lazy to look for one, but Fox host Will Caine (who interviewed tfg with weekend co-hosts Campos Duffey and Hegseth), said the entire interview will be on his podcast tomorrow. Made a point to note that it was just slightly edited (right). If anyone cares, I don't.

But think of how jacked FJT will get in the prison weight room, right? I mean, he'll finally become the man his cultists actually see.

I admit I couldn't type all the way through those two sentences without laughing so hard I snorted out some of my morning iced tea.

"Full panic mode": Experts say Trump mad he's "finally being treated like any other defendant"
[l]Trump on Truth Social complained that the rules in his trial are the same as "virtually every criminal court"
[/l]

By CHARLES R. DAVIS Deputy News Editor
PUBLISHED MAY 28, 2024 10:26AM (EDT)

Donald Trump is not behaving like someone who expects to be found "not guilty." In a series of posts over the Memorial Day weekend, the former president deviated from the norm of honoring soldiers who fought and died for the United States by instead posting on his website, Truth Social, about how unfair it is that standard courtroom procedures are not being bent in his favor.

Posting in all caps, Trump – facing 34 felony counts of falsifying business records to cover up a hush payment to an adult film star – on Monday raged against the order in which closing arguments will be made in his Manhattan trial. It is a "big advantage," he said, and "very unfair" that the prosecution gets to go second. "Why can't the defense go last?"

Whether he knows this and is just riling up gullible followers or if he simply never retained the information his defense counsel could surely provide, Politico's Kyle Cheney noted that Trump is here complaining about a fact of life "in virtually every criminal court." Per Cheney, "Prosecutors typically get a rebuttal during closings because [the] burden or proof lies with them, not [the] defense."
Trump, then, is complaining about an order that exists because of the far higher standard that prosecutors must meet. The defense only needs to sow doubt about the government's case, and it really only needs one juror to entertain the former president's argument that the case is a "witch hunt"; the prosecution must show that its case is not just probable, but prove it beyond a reasonable doubt.

"Trump is finally being treated like every other defendant," said Joyce Vance, a former U.S. attorney who has been following his hush money trial. "[R]eally," she argued, "that's what he objects to."

In another weekend rant about the case, Trump again opined that it was wrong to bring a case against him while he's running for president. If there was evidence of a crime, he wrote, referring to himself in the third person, "it should have been brought seven years ago, not in the middle of his Campaign for President."

"For completeness," SCOTUS R. 20(4)(a):
To justify the granting of a writ of habeas corpus, the petitioner must show that exceptional circumstances warrant the exercise of the Court's discretionary powers, and that adequate relief cannot be obtained in any other form or from any other court. This writ is rarely granted.
So, sure, theoretically possible.

There hasnt been such a compromised SCOTUS since the Taney Court.

IANAL, but I wouldn't rule out any attrocity from this court.

I'm not a fan of Popok, but I suspect that if the quadfectee meets his probation officer, he'll tell us all about it on Truthy Socialist, probably with much rending of garments and gnashing of teeth. That's just how he rolls. If he does meet the PO, it's a humiliating experience. The World's Champion Crybaby shall blubber.

Conversely, if he doesn't meet the PO, he is asking for a jail sentence.

Trivia Time: I attended the sentencing of our favorite failure from the Navy, career criminal Walter Francis Fitzpatrick, III, lo these many moons ago, and he, like I suspect the quadfectee will do, refused to even meet with the PO, on the grounds that he had committed no crime and the whole trial was corrupt and violated the Constitution.

He was handcuffed and taken out the back door of the courtroom to begin serving 3 years in prison.

So refusing to submit to the probation office is not a winning strategy.

Bragg got convictions. That’s great. But a lot of independents will treat the crimes as serious as removing yard signs before an election. Independents are the ones who have to be convinced. Public perception is important.

When Trump was impeached the first time, the House Democrats missed an opportunity. He should have been impeached for seeking a bribe, because that is exactly what he sought from Zelensky in order to perform his job. And the Constitution lists bribery as a high crime. Instead, the House impeached him for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. WTF? That ignored the primary crime and clouded what Trump actually did.

Likewise, Bragg ignored the crime that most people are familiar with – conspiracy. Here, conspiracy to violate New York State tax and election laws.

Another missed opportunity.

I'm certain Mr. Trump will address those issues directly on the 27th of this month, at the first debate.

Can't we just house him at alcatraz and treat it like our own personal elba?

Hey that gave me an idea - there's a really small town in Alabama called Elba. We can send him there. I'm sure there are lots of little houses or trailers in which he could serve lock up time. I'm sure everyone there loves him, so he'd be safe (and everyone there probably owns eleventyseven guns). To be forced to live in a 1958 1100 sq ft 2/1 that hasn't been updated ever (with no a/c) would be awesome. He could do community service by working alongside Junior Bob as he makes his rounds servicing port-a-potties and septic tanks.

Elba didn't work out so well.

What we want is St. Helena, and the mansion on the windward side of the island, where the 20 mph winds blowing all day and all night drove people mad.
