Enjoy yourselves, and I hope you at least get a chance to dip your toes in.

Sounds great! Enjoy!

Sunset last night
.
Surf so rough, the lifeguards had red flags out - no swimming. Saw a lady with a boogie board. She wasn't bad at all, but she was washed 100 meters down the beach in 3 minutes. She caught a wave that brought her to the sand and snapped the board in two.
I left my board in the room.
But I went in up to my knees!

Yeah, the horses are magnificent, the rest of the show is pretty meh. I do love the falcon, and the costumes and lighting of course, and did I mention it's a really awesome horse show, with a lot of nonsense added in order to make it kid-friendly? It's a really awesome horse show, and I guess the people are okay too also. It's fun to eat a big meal with no silverware, but they give you all the napkins and wet towels and whatnot. That's the physically most difficult waitress job in the world.
The dinner was:
Anyway, we were assigned to cheer for the black and white knight, and he won, so we got a million dollars cash money except not.
Good times with ol' Wifehorn are the best.
The dinner was:
- tomato bisque, warm but not hot
- piece of garlic bread
- half a fried chicken - breast, thigh, wing, drumstick
- half a baked potato, so yummy
- half an ear of corn on the cob, perfectly cooked
- an éclair

Yeah, and I hate that. Milord this, Milord that. That's part of the silliness. I'm an American, we don't have lords and ladies. Harrumph! Grump!

We don’t have jousting in America either. Jousting and Lords and Ladies are a package deal. No complaining.

Oh, I didn't complain. Who would I complain to?
Not the waitress/busgirl/hostess who took care of us, I've never seen a waitress work so hard in my life. She had 30 people to feed, maybe more. She collected all our dishes in big plastic buckets that must have weighed 20 lbs by the time they were full. We left her a massive tip. I would never complain to anyone working that hard. She was awesome. She could call me Milord and I just smiled and nodded.
But I did strain my eyes from rolling them into the back of my head. All the patter from the king and queen is just so much horse potatoes. Don't like the guys fighting with weapons.
But the horses are fantastic, and overall, I had a great time.

The waterworks curve on the interstate at 4:00 on a Friday afternoon around here gets pretty damn close, though.MN-Skeptic wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2024 9:59 amWe don’t have jousting in America either. Jousting and Lords and Ladies are a package deal. No complaining.

BUT... But.... but... you have High Noon on the dusty streets of those ancient dilapidated cities out in The West, with or without the rustlers driving their herds thru while sipping a bottle of whiskey at the saloon and chitchatting with the ladiesMN-Skeptic wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2024 9:59 amWe don’t have jousting in America either. Lances. I need lances! And steeds and armor. Pistols at high noon just doesn't cut it.RTH10260 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2024 12:15 pmBUT... If you're trying to cut something, a sword is more appropriate than a lance or a pistol.MN-Skeptic wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2024 2:13 pmLances. I need lances! And steeds and armor. What's a waitress? Do you mean 'serving wench'?

Server offered us "dragon's teeth soup," then whispered confidentially, "Me, I think it's just chicken noodle."
Shattered all my delusions.
Besides, I'd have noticed it wasn't crunchy enough for dragon's teeth.

Be weirder if they called it "chicken's teeth soup" though.pipistrelle wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2024 10:19 pm Server offered us "dragon's teeth soup," then whispered confidentially, "Me, I think it's just chicken noodle."

Off Topic
I had a roommate that used to absolutely literally ROFL if you said something about "chicken lips". I never did figure out what his 'thing' was about imagining a chicken with lips.

Past my prime to do that service industry work. Late high school and into college. Enjoyed doing it. Got to meet many Karens before they were called Karen. Great life learning experiences.
Yes, boys know how to serve tables too.

It's called Medieval Times because that was a period of time in history.
And in the actual medieval age, I'm sure you didn't know this, but there was a lot of very terrible sexism. A woman back then couldn't possibly get a job like this one, where she works her ass off for a pile of money, and is treated well by virtually all her customers. Women were really badly treated, in the actual medieval culture. Our waitress was friendly and competent, and didn't seem to suffer much. She seemed to really enjoy her job, unlike a real woman in the real medieval life.
But, umm ... yeah. In the warped imitation of those days that is the 21st century paid dinner show Medieval Times, they only have women waitresses. The guy who was circulating around was from the bar; he didn't help serve food, but then we didn't leave him a tip.
They have only male knights, too also. It's hysterical historical.
