Republican state treasurer candidate Michele Fiore is facing allegations of violating campaign finance law by her Democratic opponent, who claims she took donations exceeding the state’s $10,000 maximum contribution limit and benefited from a potential “straw donor scheme.”
The allegations made in a complaint filed with the secretary of state’s office against Fiore by Treasurer Zach Conine’s campaign on Wednesday referenced records showing that Fiore’s campaign reported two $10,000 donations from Sherly Cordero, a Blue Marble Development executive, and more than $17,500 from Las Vegas-based home building company American West Development chairman Lawrence Canarelli between 2021 and 2022.
Campaign finance records also show an additional $25,000 contribution from Mobile Materials Mix Inc. in December 2021, not included in the report. The donation to Fiore came while she ran for governor earlier in the campaign cycle. Fiore launched a campaign for governor last year but withdrew and switched races to challenge Conine in his run for re-election.

Apparently anyone can apply, no experience necessary.Former Las Vegas City Councilwoman Michele Fiore, a firebrand conservative who mounted a failed bid for state treasurer this year, is one of 20 applicants vying to serve as a justice court judge in Pahrump.
That’s just effed up, as the kids say.poplove wrote: ↑Wed Dec 21, 2022 3:16 am Former Las Vegas councilwoman Michele Fiore chosen as new Justice of the Peace in Pahrump

I'm just glad she's leaving Las Vegas!
Justice Courts
Roles & Responsibilities
Each county's board of supervisors sets the geographical boundaries, known as precincts, of that county's Justice of the Peace courts. Although these geographical boundaries can be changed, the precincts cannot be abolished until the four-year term of the current justice of the peace expires.
Justice of the Peace Courts
Justice of the Peace Courts hear traffic cases and certain civil and criminal cases. They issue search warrants and handle domestic violence and harassment cases. Justice courts hear landlord / tenant disputes under a dollar amount of $10,000. Justice of the Peace Courts also hear small claims cases under $3,500.
Hearings & Probable Cause
When conducting preliminary hearings on felonies, Justice of the Peace Court judges may require defendants to answer criminal charges in Superior Court. They may also dismiss charges if there is no probable cause to believe the defendant is guilty.

On Thursday, MSNBC ran an opinion piece titled, Nevada’s newest judge doesn’t respect the law. Or perhaps know it. The article goes over almost every scandal that can be dug up against Nye County’s newest Justice of the Peace, Michele Fiore, who has served as Las Vegas City Councilwoman, in the legislature, as well as an RNC Committeewoman.
While aiming to sully her name, they somehow forgot a few key ‘Michele moments’ like when she posed for a photo that appeared to be lace women’s undergarments on her face. An “N69 mask,” folks. Yeah, people either love her or loathe her. Take your pick.

Typically, being qualified for a job is key to actually obtaining that job. This is not true for former Las Vegas City Council member and state Assembly member-turned-soon-to-be-Judge Michele Fiore. Fiore, who just lost her bid to become Nevada’s treasurer, has never practiced law. Indeed, it’s rare to serve as a judge when one has not even attended law school. But more troubling is that Fiore has been the subject of at least one federal investigation and civil suit, has bragged about breaking the state law when she was a member of the state Assembly and previously suggested that law enforcement officers opt not to follow the law. She also appears to seriously lack what the American Bar Association refers to as “judicial temperament.”
While we don’t know all of the reasons that the county commissioners have for supporting Fiore, we know that at least for Donna Cox, the commissioner who made the motion to appoint Fiore, former President Trump’s endorsement of Fiore was key. Cox specifically mentioned Trump’s endorsement (yes, the same Trump who attempted a self-coup and is the subject of federal and state criminal investigations) and said, “That speaks very loudly and it was an honor to receive this.”
These might sound like small cases with few ramifications. But this is not the case. For the people who appear before Fiore, and any other justice of the peace, these cases have real impacts on their freedom and their finances.
Is that a typo when you wrote whole? I thought there was an R in there somewhere instead.Slim Cognito wrote: ↑Fri Dec 30, 2022 1:09 pm I see she's working very hard on shedding that whole over-the-hill pole dancer image.
If I ever had to appear in her “court” I’d have this pic blown up to 24x36 inches and ask, “This you?” and wait for the recusal/mistrial.Slim Cognito wrote: ↑Fri Dec 30, 2022 1:09 pm I see she's working very hard on shedding that whole over-the-hill pole dancer image.
