The female suspect who was responsible for fatally hitting a 22-year-old Indigenous woman with her vehicle and fleeing the scene seven months ago in Montana was identified as 28-year-old Sunny Kathrinne White.

White's 4- and 2-year-old children were suspected to have been inside the vehicle at the time of the deadly hit-and-run that killed Mika Josephine Westwolf, who was a member of the Blackfeet tribe.



A filed affidavit detailing the deadly incident indicated Westwolf was struck head-on while walking home on Highway 93 near White Coyote Road outside of Arlee at 4:15 a.m. on March 31, 2023.

Seven months later on Saturday, White was arrested and charged with five felonies, including vehicular homicide while under the influence, according to Lake County court records.

White's other charges included accidents involving another person or deceased person, two counts of criminal child endangerment, and one charge of criminal possession of dangerous drugs.

Blood Tribe is a neo-Nazi group with semi-autonomous chapters in the United States and Canada. Blood Tribe promotes hardline white supremacist views and openly directs its vitriol at Jews, "non-whites" and the LGBTQ+ community. Blood Tribe formed online in 2021, when neo-Nazi Christopher Pohlhaus began referring to his followers as the “blood tribe.” As his following grew, Pohlhaus began holding and attending private white supremacist gatherings which eventually led to formal “Blood Tribe” membership ceremonies. In 2023, members of the Blood Tribe began participating in anti-LGBTQ+ protests. During those protests, dozens of members, dressed uniformly in red shirts, black masks and black pants, shouted racial and anti-LGBTQ+ slurs, waved swastika flags and gave Hitler salutes.

Vinland Rebels is a white supremacist group that formed in February 2022 with chapters in Tennessee, Texas, Hawaii and the Pacific Northwest. The group primarily distributes white supremacist propaganda and holds small demonstrations, often in collaboration with the Active Club and White Lives Matter networks. Vinland Rebels uses “2218” as a numeric reference to “V” and “R." The group’s symbol consists of 4 bolts that represent faith, duty, honor and brotherhood and that these "4 bolts are what holds our movement and our race together.”
