And his loving dad and siblings don't care. May be why the ex dumped him. We never hear much about him being around his kids.

For people in the bubble of right wing nut jobbery California is the talking point. Just in the past month I personally witnessed a nut job telling a bunch of nursing school students that "in California the doctor has up to 24 hours after the birth of the baby to decide to 'abort' it". I kid you not. And what was worse, the knee jerk reaction was "how dare they". Not, "what?, That doesn't sound right. That sounds like murder, how in the world is it even possible?" Nope. These young women who will someday be working in our health care system believed it just because some crotchety old right wing nutbag said it.

I don't know how this guy won his senate seat, except maybe a trump endorsement? It was a crowded field so maybe that made the difference in the primary. I know he stumped hard for trump's attention - it was during this campaign that he made the cat lady statement (name-checking AOC, Pete - who had actually adopted their twins a month before, and Harris). The D candidate must have been really bad to have been defeated by this flavorless chewed up piece of gum.
