I'm sitting here in my hotel room looking at old pictures. This is one of my all-time favorites. I took the left one soon after hubs and I started dating, the one on the right 20 years later.
Nailed it.
(Yes, he is wearing the same shirt and vest. That guy could eat a horse and never gain a pound.)

I wish I had that. I had to "upsize" my wardrobe in the past year.Slim Cognito wrote: ↑Fri Nov 25, 2022 10:04 pm I'm sitting here in my hotel room looking at old pictures. And I never looked that cool. I was destined to be a H.S. AV club nerd for life.

I am so sorry. You and Mr Slim are in my thoughts.

A non-update update---Hubs has been moved from ICU one step down, more surveillance than a standard room but a nice private room with a couch. He's tolerating chemo as best as could be expected. Discharge "early next week" is written in Jell-O. His daughter got this cool river front cottage for us but she heads back to KC tomorrow so I may move into his room if they'll let me. It may be my best chance to catch a doctor since they like to do rounds around 7 am.
I'll see how he's doing Saturday/Sunday and decide if I should squeeze in a quick trip home or stay put.
I've come to believe in angels of the human persuasion. Portia and another friend are taking care of my fur babies. I couldn't do this without them.
Hubs' breathing problems are as much, if not more, a concern right now. They'd like to get his oxygen rate down to 2 before discharge. He does better on 3.
My last trip home, I was able to get his handicap placard and loaded my crossover with oxygen supplies and a wheelchair. I covered everything with black sheets ( the color of my interior) then threw blankets, pillows, bags and other crap in there hoping, should anyone peek inside, they'll think I'm just a houseless person living in my car.
I'll post more when I know more.

I've avoided doing too many updates on Hubs as it seems to jinx him, but we just got home from another trip to Tampa, this time for his 21-day post chemo bone marrow bx. Cross fingers the news is good. It will decide his next chemo regimen.
I do want to say this. After six years of MAGA asshattery and three years of COVID bullshit, I want to say how happy, thankful and blessed I feel to find there are still lots of good people in this world.
I've had construction workers help me maneuver over-loaded hotel carts bogged down with oxygen concentrators, tanks and suitcases through closed doors, hotel guests help me maneuver the same through small elevator openings, even stepping off to make room for me. I met the most wonderful young man clerking the La Quinta near Moffitt help me when I nearly broke down at the reservation desk when I didn't have a reservation, never realizing it was a Saturday night and they might be sold out. He not only got me a room at a discounted rate, he actually remembered my name from a previous visit. One day two housekeepers stopped their work to help me push his wheelchair loaded with oxygen tanks down a looooooong hallway to the elevator.
And I can't leave out Portia and my other friend who have taken care of my fur babies, without which, I may have had to surrender as I have been in Tampa more than I have been home over the past few weeks.
My faith in humanity has been restored.
