HBO to Develop Film Based on George Santos: Report
It will be based on the book 'The Fabulist: The Lying, Hustling, Grifting, Stealing, and Very American Legend of George Santos'

https://themessenger.com/politics/hbo-t ... tos-report
HBO Films has optioned the rights to Mark Chiusano's book on ousted Rep. George Santos, Deadline reported.

The book, titled "The Fabulist: The Lying, Hustling, Grifting, Stealing, and Very American Legend of George Santos," was published late last month.

Frank Rich, who worked on both "Veep" and "Succession," is set to lead the project.

News of the movie comes after Santos was expelled from Congress on Friday in a historic vote, making him the sixth person ever to be booted from the legislature, and the first to be ousted in two decades.

Maybe I'm too cynical now, but it seems to me If is doing too much work for them lately; too much trying and not enough doing.

George Santos Offering Paid Cameo Videos Days After Congress Expulsion

https://patch.com/new-york/northfork/s/ ... 7487825f05
Just days after being expelled from Congress, George Santos has a new gig: the disgraced politician is offering personalized shoutout videos to the public for $150 each on his newly-opened Cameo profile shared on his X account.

In his short biography on the site, Santos — who was removed from Congress after a third attempt Friday morning — describes himself as a "former congressional 'Icon'!" and "the expelled member of Congress from (a small part of) New York City."

According to archived screenshots of his profile, Santos initially listed the cost of a video at $75 before doubling it. He is offering several types of videos to buyers, taking requests for everything from birthday greetings to the chance to be "roasted" by him.

Santos is only the sixth member of Congress to be expelled. The final tally was 311 votes for expulsion, including 105 Republicans.

Santos, whose 3rd District covers (parts of) Queens and Nassau counties, pleaded not guilty to 23 federal fraud and conspiracy counts. It was discovered following his election win that the majority of his resume was fabricated.

Ugh. I just want Santos to disappear into oblivion. I think I read HBO is doing a doc on him? I'm less interested in fewer things than that. This attention hound needs to just be ignored forever.

At this point, I think of GS as the incarnation of Poe's Law -- his false claims are just as out there as the ones we make up as over-the-top examples. So I think if they DO go ahead with the HBO story, they need to go full over-the-edge like that Dylan biopic in the mid-to-late-aughts where they had Bob Dylan played by different actors -- I remember Cate Blanchett was one and Heath Ledger and Christian Bale were two more. Blanking on the rest.

But totally do this with GS. Just have the sweater and sports coat and glasses as the visual cue and go for a wide range of actors each telling different lies in different scenes.

That would be surreal enough that maybe i could get behind it and watch it.

Naw wrong fit. Randy is too skinny and TOO flamboyant. And I don't want see a film with mostly show-tunes.

That SNL player Mr. Yang has GS down-pat.

Don't be silly. The obvious choice is his former colleague, Harriet Hageman.

This is, again, the beauty of doing it in the style of the "I'm Not There" biopic -- many people can each 'interpret' Santos as they embody him (or don't).

As many a SNL player has learned (the hard way), what works for a 5-minute sketch doesn't work for a movie.

Too also: Yang is hilarious, but it is also a caricature. It isn't a serious portrayal.

Well, a few have come out of sketch comedy and done well. Eddie Murphy, for example.

Anywho/how whatever this "bioptic" idea is would be DOA. Nobody who pays attention the the attention whore Santos is going to tune in. Thus, no studio is going to underwrite the cost of production and distribution. IMHO.

Many performers have had successful careers after SNL. But fewer characters have been the focus of successful films: Yes, Wayne's World; yet don't forget A Night at the Roxbury.

If some studio was dumb enough to make a serious biography, they'd go with an actor who would portray Santos in a realistic manner. Which would be tricky; among the reasons why a studio should shy away from such a project.

I'm less interested in a movie than in whether the Dems have learned to vet opposing political candy dates. I suspect Kitara will have his imitators trying to bust into Congress by scamming everyone in their districts. It would be nice if we could catch them BEFORE they get elected to Congress, this time around. Remember, this happened in oh-so-sophisticated New York, where it would be unpossible to fool people like he did.
