George Santos Expelled From Congress
But just before the vote, CNN reported the "betting is, he'll survive this," as the top GOP leadership said they supported keeping Santos in office.

Santos, whose 3rd District covers (only part of) Queens and Nassau counties, pleaded not guilty to 23 federal fraud and conspiracy counts. It was discovered following his election win that the majority of his resume was fabricated.

The resolution passed 311 to 114, with 105 Republicans voting in favor of expulsion. All four top House GOP leaders voted to keep Santos in Congress.
And, yes looking at the math, it was Dems who got it done.

That took a long time for Republicans to decide that drag queens may not read to them children in Congress

Now, if they would only investigate why the Speaker (Mike Johnson) and rep from TN Andy Ogles don't have checking or savings accounts (not any reported on their financial disclosure forms). And how Ogles, with no checking account was able to loan his campaign hundreds of thousands of dollars.

 I hadn't made that connection about the Republicans' duplicitous attitude to drag artists. Gosh, they're horrible people.

To be fair, there was no way for either party to unilaterally expel Santos. (Which essentially was the Framers' intent when they required a supermajority for expulsion.)

That the Democrats provided a majority of the votes to expel Santos is unsurprising. But, as with McCarthy's ouster, I'm sure the Democrats will be blamed for this "unprecedented, dangerous" step.

Can't wait for Santos to start throwing bombs at the other House members. I suspect the tar is plenty deep enough to trap them under the bus he's going to throw them under.

Let's hope the NY GOP doesn't put him on the ballot again, and the constituents cretins in his district don't get a second chance to screw us all.

My brother, who lives in Manhattan, says the residents of that district are really pissed at the Republican party. It's a swing district but he doesn't think there's any way it goes Republican, at least for the special election and probably the next general election.

Does make you wonder what he did to piss them off enough to dump him, or what he wasn't doing that they wanted him to.

Be a value add.

People attach themselves to the former president because they are chasing dollars and status; Santos couldn't deliver that in sufficient quantities to be worth the hassle.

Too also: The control of the House is very much in play next year; Santos was an obvious drag on the congressional brand.
