He lied, cheated, then lied some more when called on the first lies, and so on. And there’s no mechanism to deal with him?

I call BS. We will not simply say ‘oh well’ or put an asterisk after his votes and carry on. That is, as Foggy would say, metaphysically absurd. ‘Yeah, he broke a bunch of laws but not one that specifically says he can’t do what he did, so…’

COME ON!!! Extrapolate!

Months before the New York Times published a December article suggesting Rep.-elect George Santos (R-N.Y.) had fabricated much of his résumé and biography, a tiny publication on Long Island was ringing alarm bells about its local candidate.

The North Shore Leader wrote in September, when few others were covering Santos, about his “inexplicable rise” in reported net worth — from essentially nothing in 2020 to as much as $11 million two years later.

The story noted other oddities about the self-described gay Trump supporter with Jewish heritage, who would go on to flip New York’s 3rd Congressional District from blue to red, and is now under investigation by authorities for misrepresenting his background to voters.

George Santos told Lara Trump he has “had the privilege of doing business” with the Trump organization “in the past.”

You think too small!

Santos would claim to have been Professor of Mendacity and Fiscal Diversion in the Faculty of Steakology at Trump University. And he'd say he has the NFT to prove it.

Santos claims he was born in Queens, NY.

It has been alleged, however, he also claimed to be born in Brazil.

I'm sure Arpaio and Zullo are on it. :towel:

Haven't followed this dumpster fire much but in an interview he did, the lady said he's been called "THE ANNA DELVEY* OF CONGRESS" and that seems really good and accurate. They're about the same age. Once the dotard opened the floodgates to lying without shame, they're all doing it, figuring they won't get caught and if they do they can tie the system up for long enough for people to forget.

Santos doesn't have shame, but when he's advised it will cost a minimum of $1M to get through a House Ethics investigation, he may not care as much about his constituents. That's what happened with Anthony Weiner, when he heard the price he was gone. Of course, they won't tell Good Ole' George this until after he votes for Kevin.

He is just following in the footsteps of Cpl. Klinger.
That was such a great scene.

I have to think they are trying to get him to resign before the new Congress starts. I doubt they have the backbone to expel him, even if it would demonstrate that they would do the ethical thing. If the Freedumb caucus wanted him out, they probably could accomplish it, assuming many in the Democratic caucus would vote to remove him. They could probably get enough votes without the crazy caucus, but they won't move without them.

This could become a pawn in the GOP struggle for who will be the speaker.

I'd think the crazy caucus would *want* him out, to reduce the number of votes for Kev. But I'm wondering who would bring the motion to not seat him if there's no voted Speaker yet, or whether they have to have the Speaker vote be the first thing, or what. Because obviously Kevin isn't going to want him gone until his position is a lock.
But the sunshine aye shall light the sky,
As round and round we run;
And the truth shall ever come uppermost,
And justice shall be done.

I annoyed someone the other day by pointing out that to be "Caucasian" you have to be from the Caucasus Region, which is basically eastern Turkey going up the eastern side of the Black sea to the western side of the Caspian sea.

George Santos Says His Mom Died Of 9/11-Related Illness. Advocates Say He’s Lying

Brenna Ehrlich, Nikki McCann Ramirez and Adam Rawnsley
Fri, December 30, 2022 at 1:00 AM GMT+1

Victims advocacy organizations and legal firms managing the cases of those affected by the September 11th terrorist attacks say they have no record of Congressman- elect George Santos’ mother, Fatima Devolder, entering a victims’ compensation claim or participating in any lawsuits related to the attacks.

Santos has repeatedly claimed that his mother, who died of cancer in 2016, was a 9/11 survivor who was “in her office in the South Tower on September 11, 2001,” and “passed away a few years later when she lost her battle to cancer.” At one point he claimed that both of his parents had been in the towers the day of the attack.
