Donald Trump’s ‘sex and bribes’ data protection case rejected by UK court
Ex-US president took action over allegations he took part in ‘perverted acts’ and bribed Russian officials

Daniel Boffey Chief reporter
Thu 1 Feb 2024 11.24 CET

Donald Trump’s data protection claim for damages over allegations in the “Steele dossier” that he took part in “perverted” sex acts and gave bribes to Russian officials has been dismissed by a high court judge in London.

Judge Steyn agreed with Orbis Business Intelligence, the company founded by the former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele, who compiled the contentious material, that the case should not go to trial.

The ruling issued on Thursday said the court did not “consider or determine the accuracy or inaccuracy of the memoranda” but found that Trump’s claim for damages had been made outside the six-year period of “limitations”.

The court ruled that Trump “has no reasonable grounds for bringing a claim for compensation or damages, and no real prospect of successfully obtaining such a remedy”.

It added that the “only other remedy claimed was for a compliance order erasing or restricting processing of the memoranda” but that this would be “pointless, and unnecessary, in circumstances where the dossier was freely available on the internet, and the defendant had in any event undertaken to delete the copies it held”.

Didn’t cost him shit. It cost his rubes.

I’d like to see some campaign finance reform saying that you can’t use pack money for legal fees not directly related to the campaign. Not gonna happen, but a girl can dream.

The utterly toothless FEC takes a very generous approach as to how lawsuits "affect" the campaign.

Yeah I remember when the soldiers were killed in Africa (I forgot which country). He called the widow of one and she had it on speaker phone with her US rep in the car with her. He says, "He knew what he signed up for." It was a whole thing and Kelly (chief of staff at that time) basically called Rep Frederica Wilson a liar. The wife was also pregnant at the time. These are the worst people.

In this conversation, Dr. Frank shares his professional insights about the Trump White House pharmacy and why it was so dangerous. He also discusses the specific drugs and narcotics that were apparently being given out there with few or any controls of limits and how they could impact people’s behavior and moods – which includes the possibility of fatal outcomes.

Dr. Frank also continues to warn about Trump’s extremely dangerous mind and overall pattern of behavior and why as seen with the second E. Jean Carroll court case for defamation, and escalating threats of violence and retribution against his “enemies”, that the corrupt ex-president will not be stopped by “the walls closing in." Instead, Dr. Frank predicts that Trump is a malignant narcissist who will go down in a blaze of glory before he ever surrenders or is otherwise made to yield in his assaults on society, human decency, and the rule of law.

How are you feeling given what has happened since our last conversation a month or so ago? Trump is winning in the primaries and is about to become the Republican Party's presidential nominee. He is being forced by a civil court to pay even more money to E. Jean Carroll for attacking her reputation. Trump is only continuing to escalate his threats of violence and mayhem and being a god-like dictator. And how do you think the American people are doing emotionally right now?

Your question is very broad, pertaining both to my individual reactions as well as assessing the American people in general. So there is a bifurcation in my own feelings. The tension is between rage and resignation. And then somewhere in the middle is a wish to expose the criminals who are part of Trump's orbit, and more generally who are inspired by his behavior. There is a part of most people's personalities that gets a thrill from breaking the rules and engaging in the types of misdemeanors that kids indulge in such as taking candy from a store without paying. But there are people who are far more dangerous than that. Trump is one of them. He unconsciously declares himself a psychopath by saying that he is above the law. He is also a cruel man who enjoys destroying anyone who disagrees with him.

As for the American people? We are a society more divided than united. Many of us are anti-intellectual and don't want to think. That makes such people attracted to strongmen and bullies like Trump. Trump has made his followers reject the truth for alternate facts – and that makes most of us insecure and uncertain about what to believe. As November approaches there will be more uncertainty and anxiety about who and what to believe. That can only lead to people making choices and then sticking to them for their own safety sake. To me, cruelty is the biggest change that is happening, and it is getting worse on a daily basis.

Italian opera singer Andrea Bocelli will perform at Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago club on Sunday. The appearance is at a charity gala that sponsors say is raising money for injured veterans, first responders and rescue dogs.

Despite these popular causes, however, the Mar-a-Lago event and the nonprofit organization behind it have been forced to address sniping that they are thinly disguised political ventures. Some guests have raised apparently unfounded doubts about whether the Mar-a-Lago bash, called the Hero Gala, will happen and whether Bocelli will appear.

The discussion has led the event's sponsor, a newly formed group called the World Series of Golf Foundation, to post disclaimers on its website. And it's prompted a representative for Bocelli to confirm he will perform while also stating the singer's non-politically affiliated status.

One reason the gala may be getting scrutiny, fair or not, is the inclusion of people who have been connected with or vocally supportive of the former president.
:snippity:
Big money is at stake for guests. Even by Palm Beach standards, the tickets are pricey. They range from $3,750 to $40,000 for a single ticket. A front-row table and eight tickets cost a whopping $250,000, according to a prior version of the Hero Gala website.

Others point to a peculiar way to pay for tickets to the gala: Tickets to the Hero Gala can be purchased via wire transfer to a Chase Bank account, as well as with a check or credit card. Wire instructions, including a bank account number and a routing number, are listed on the website.

The wire instruction is unusual, said Richard Rampell, a retired Palm Beach CPA.

"I have never seen a solicitation for funds with a request to wire the money," said Rampell, a longtime Palm Beach resident who for decades advised wealthy philanthropic clients regarding giving to and obtaining tax deductions for purchases of tickets to charitable events.
