Can he actually claim Homestead on MaL since technically it is not his homestead but a private club on the grounds of which he lives as an owner-employee?
No, because his agreement with the city that it was not supposed to be his resident. But they would have to move to evict his bloated corpulent or cancel his operation license, and that would be fought, and they are probably feeling it's not worth the trouble.

Same. I have 1 year old twin grands and we play peekaboo all the time. I've been so confused about that nickname.

New York Magazine has an article discussing several theories, including Flatpoint's, which is the one that makes the most sense to me.

I think he made some kind of a mistake at first and now he keeps calling her that to cover the fact he made a mistake. Like the way he keeps using "stollen" in posts now. Other examples of Mistakes he tried to cover for are "Coveffe," or "Nambia." I don't think Trump would use such an archaic term as the J word. I'd certainly never heard of it before. As the articel says, Trump is never so out and out with his racist shit in public.

As to what the mistake was, I have no idea. It might just have been the word that popped into his head when he was trying to call her a Baby, struggling for a clever way to say it but not say it, and an image of him playing Peekaboo with his kids or Grandkids popped into his mind.

Also he has been calling Margret Heffernan "Maggot" Heffernan, and that woman has been putting out his press releases under "a source tells me" for years.

Calling someone a Maggot is pretty bad, but it got zero traction. It seens no-one cares about all his stupid unless they can strain a racist insult into it if they cross their eyes and squint.

He would have done it if there were people watching to show off how great and loving he is, and how his grandkids show how great his breeding and Jeans I mean Genes are. I remember an article talking about how he brought his granddaughter in during an interview, pretended it was a surprise to see her there, and had her talk a few phrases in Chinese she had learned to show how clever she was, therefore he is.

So ya he would do it for the cameras. Or to manipulate his kids. On his own, he wouldn't bother.

No way? What, does he own a ranch bigger than New Hampshire or something?

I had no idea.

I long ago added to my list of things I'm gonna change when I assume my post as Maximum Leader of the Universe for Life is thr Homestead Exception.

I see no good reason why a gazpmgazillionaire can squire off to Florida and live at a place like Mar a Lago or fekkin Versailles and then say they're too poor to pay people $375 in lawn cutting money they owe them. Why not limit them to the lesser of 2500 Sq ft, 1 acre, $500,000 or the average net worth of their victims after they stole from them?

SBF used to have an infomercial where they bragged he lived in a 900 sq ft apartment and drove a 15 year old Honda. (Turned out the 900 Sq ft apartment was the entry of a 12 story building in Nassau the company sex commune co-habitated and the Honda might be one of about 25 cars he owned, with the odd Bentley and Maybach maybe hidden in there under some company paperwork too). I say put him in a $1200 a month apartment in New Jersey and let him keep the 99 Accord. And not a damn thing more until he pays back every dime with interest at Payday Loan rates.

Why would that make her clever? Did it never cross his mind that 1.7 billion people speak Chinese and virtually all of them learned it as toddlers? (Most people didn't know that.)

Is that so?

From 2016: Trump’s ‘Mexican’ label against judge brings up word’s history
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump referred to a U.S.-born federal judge as a “Mexican” and saw a backlash, even from other Republicans.
...
In the latest example, Trump recently used the word against U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel, an American of Mexican origin. It came after Curiel agreed to unseal the details in a class-action lawsuit by people who say they were victims of fraud by Trump’s real estate business education venture, the now-defunct Trump University.

“The judge, who happens to be, we believe, Mexican,” Trump told a San Diego crowd in a rant against Curiel. “Which is great. I think that’s fine.”

But when pressed over his remarks about the Indiana-born judge, Trump suggested Curiel lacked the ability to be objective because of his ethnic background.

Curiel has “an inherent conflict of interest” because Trump is “building a wall,” the billionaire real estate mogul said
in an interview with The Wall Street Journal. He also told CNN that Curiel is “of Mexican heritage,” dismissing the fact that Curiel was born in Indiana and saying, “He’s proud of his heritage.”

Ahem. That would be ten times. I believe tfg explicitly specified one hundred times, so that would be a $1.8B mansion.

This is the exactly type of stuff Cohen was talking about. He never directly says stuff. He HINTS at it. So coming out with an actual obvious racial slur is against his Modus Operandi. That shit up there you can legitimately argue about whether its racist or not, so its him dancing on the edge in a legal sense

Actually saying a something one letter off a very obscure and archaic racist term is not Trumps style. Its too subtle for him and would require research. He wants stuff that wont go over the head of his audience, and I bet most of the people here have never heard the J word before any more than I have.

Seriously, can you give me one other example of him doing clever word play?

I liked The Intellegencer's explanation that he did it to be controversial, provocative, and mysterious. He gets more free rent time in people's heads that way, and keeps the focus on him. He's a narcissist and that's what he loves most. He's a one note song sung in the key of Me.

Your "didn't grow up in America" is showing if you didn't know both the word and exactly what kind of slur it was.
It's one of those words that in my lifetime a deep south television presenter could say on air without any irony at all in an end of the news editorial in support of the Governor and his "Segregation now, Segregation forever!" Speech.

I knew the word when I was 6, knew it was an insult when I was 9 but didn't get to "word you don't ever use" until at least college and still hear it sometimes from people who think I'll get it when they look around furtively before they whisper it.

I had a racist aunt in Pensacola FL growing up that would drop N-bombs. When my parents asked her to watch her language around the children, she didn’t get it, but switched to the J-word. Definitely A Thing.
