CNN’s Dana Bash revealed that she received several texts from some of Rep. Matt Gaetz’s current and former Republican colleagues in Congress. Many include language that she can’t repeat on morning television.

Gaetz is the Republican member of Congress—and close ally of former President Donald Trump—who finds himself at the center of an investigation that reportedly includes allegations of sex trafficking, among other sordid details like paying for sex and drug use are, as yet, unverified.

Bash has been covering the Capitol for years and is as well networked as virtually any reporter in Washington D.C. Co-anchor John Avlon asked her about the current atmosphere in Congress regarding the Gaetz scandal. “This guy was so tight with President Trump,” he noted. “But it doesn’t exactly seem like his Republican colleagues are rallying to his defense.”

“Not in the least,” she replied. “If you could see my text messages from some of his current and former colleagues, I actually can’t repeat what some of them say on morning television.”

She went on to explain that Gaetz “has not made himself popular with most of his colleagues. Again, we’re talking about his fellow Republicans, John. We’re talking about people who he has antagonized in the name of being, you know, as beholden and as loyal to the former president, Donald Trump, as possible. In the name of being on conservative media, being on Fox News. Being the darling of that.”

No it's not just you ... but in general I don't mock persons physical attributes. I have a friend who is not GQ magazine photo material by far, but the content of his character makes him gold.

The federal investigation targeting Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz is specifically looking into whether he and an associate in his home state of Florida provided cash or others things of value to women they had sex with after connecting online, The New York Times first reported Thursday evening and a source familiar with the matter confirmed to ABC News.

Gaetz's associate, former local politician Joel Greenberg, was indicted last year for allegedly trafficking a teenage girl for sex in 2017, and the Justice Department is also trying to determine whether Gaetz had sex with the 17-year-old, according to sources. Greenberg pleaded not guilty to the charges.



According to the Times, investigators believe Greenberg met women through certain websites and introduced some of them to Gaetz. As recently as 2019 and 2020, Gaetz and Greenberg told women to meet them at hotels in Florida, laying out how much they were willing to pay beforehand, the newspaper said, adding that party drugs may have also been used by Gaetz and others at times.

"Matt Gaetz has never paid for sex," Gaetz's office said in a statement to The New York Times. "Matt Gaetz refutes all the disgusting allegations completely. Matt Gaetz has never ever been on any such websites whatsoever. Matt Gaetz cherishes the relationships in his past and looks forward to marrying the love of his life."

1) How the hell does a county tax assessor manage to get into secure areas where state drivers licenses are processed?

2) when were the identity theft indictments against Greenberg issued, and if there was evidence that Gaetz participated, why hasn't an indictment against him been issued?

Federal prosecutors have said that customers visiting tax collector branches that issued driver’s licenses and Florida ID cards would sometimes surrender their old IDs to Greenberg’s staff to be destroyed. TALLAHASSEE — Embattled Rep. Matt Gaetz and his close friend, now-indicted former Seminole County Tax Collector Joel Greenberg, sent a voicemail nearly two years ago to female Florida state Rep. Anna Eskamani where Greenberg relays to her how both men wanted to praise her for “lovely qualities.”

“We think you are the future of the Democratic Party in Florida,” Gaetz (R-Fla.) can be heard saying on the voicemail. Eskamani, a progressive Democrat who is considering a run for governor, dug up the voicemail this week and provided it to POLITICO when news surfaced that Gaetz is under investigation for potential trafficking of a 17-year-old girl. Eskamani has been a rising star among Florida Democrats who has been willing to call out members of her own party, and that combativeness had earned the praise of conservatives such as Gaetz. “It was creepier than I remembered,” said Eskamani, 30, who added “it made me incredibly uncomfortable and I did not call or text back.”

Eskamani first interacted with Greenberg in 2018 after she got into a Twitter battle with him for comments he made on social media about Muslims. It led to the two elected officials eventually meeting, which she described on social media this week as an awkward encounter. News of the voicemail comes at a time when Greenberg — who is in custody on charges including sex trafficking, identity theft, bribery and wire fraud — is facing more than two dozen public corruption and sex trafficking-related charges, an investigation that has swept up Gaetz. Gaetz, 38, meanwhile, says he has done nothing wrong and that the allegations are tied to an extortion plot to get money from his wealthy family.
