He's a DFO pumper.

If I am supposed to care, can you show me the contract fine print?

Woods is no hero.

I think it's another one of those made-up ways to reference trump. For some reason, it seems to be cool to mangle names and places to show contempt. It just makes it hard to do anything but try to figure out wtf it's referring to.

It's how Mary Trump refers to her uncle, Disgraced Former Occupant.

My resident golf addict points out that Tiger is a right handed golfer and the right leg does all of the work (my simplification of the explanation). While the major bone breaks are awful I think the shattered ankle means the end of his career. He will be lucky if he can resume a normal life as an average person.

I do not share negative sentiment towards him. He has, of course, demonstrated horrible judgment at various times in his life (including yesterday). But I loved watching him golf. What we don't know from any of these statements is how that force impacted his spine (5 back surgeries, including a fusion!). I am more familiar with spinal surgeries and fusions than any lay person should be. Even with successful surgeries this impacts your life forever. Layer on his previous addiction to pain medication and he is in for a rough recovery and future.

I was put off by the hours of coverage yesterday. There are thousands of people in the hospital with Covid-19, recovering and dying. Woods will be fine, one way or another. He may be done golfing, but he's set for life based on the game.

We can lament on the media having hours of coverage on this, but as of now, this topic has the most replies on TFB.

There are times (many, many) when the press covers what sells. Tiger sells. And sells lots. So he got (and always will) a lot of press coverage.

Due to Woods' lack of a driver, even with an iron will to recover in rehab, he may spend the rest of his life doing nothing but puttering around in his garden.

I'll show myself out.

Yes, remember the wall to wall coverage when Coby Bryant died in the helicopter crash. It exceeded what one might expect for any politician short of a president.

I'm not an accident investigator.. but I don't see how the nose of the vehicle got so smashed on that route without the vehicle going end-over-end.

I love seeing how close those houses are to each other in the photo. It's really neighborly when you can lean out your second-story window and shake hands with the folks next door. :D

During the news conference yesterday one of the officers said the vehicle sheared off an 8" tree going down the embankment. I assume that crushed in the front.

Yeah, but
- an 8" tree wouldn't do that much damage to the nose of the vehicle IMHO
- there is no V where the tree hit.. it is flat compression.

So dunno.

The Sheriff said no sign of impairment. I don't know if they did a blood alcohol test or tox screen.

The original reports called it a roll over crash, and I'm not an accident reconstructionist either, but the damage is consistent with excessive speed roll-overs I've seen.

I don't know either. It sure as hell hit something hard on the front though. In one of the photos you can see the front bumper had separated up the hill from where the SUV came to rest.

Of course it did (and all other ways). He hit a median going at a way-way too high rate of speed. He bumped the median-- that stopped one tire of the car. The energy had to go somewhere.. objects in motion remain in motion....

He should be thankful to be alive. Screw the golfing -- and go be with his family.
