Russia's foreign ministry called on European Union and NATO countries on Saturday to "stop pumping weapons" to Ukraine, the Russian RIA news agency said.

Interesting unroll. Russia wasn't ready for the current outcome because they didn't want to hear it. And now their economy may evaporate by June leaving them unable to sustain the effort.
That is just too much a Mad Max outcome for me. I can only imagine the chaos that will emanate from Russia after that.

That rings true, but I would imagine there is a LOT of the FSB trying to let people know that this is NOT THEIR FAULT in that. There is just a little too much "People didnt ask us/ if we had been asked/not our intelligence" in there. So they are maneuvering for the post war regime and getting ahead of the people who will be trying to blame everyone but themselves for this mess. So the FSB are blaming everyone but themselves for this mess while giving decent intel for credibility.

That someone needs to review their physics class notes. Aircraft are moving at several hundred knots. They wouldn't dwell over a ground point long enough to gain any safety. Plus airplanes fall laterally, not straight down. That pesky inertia thing prevents it.
There's a twitter video around here someplace demonstrating the effect. Missle shoots, aircraft becomes a fireball, and the fireball continues along the same path with an arc into the Earth where it makes a big flaming splat.
Notably, however. it doesn't really state anything that we don't already know or suspect.
I agree with the commentary that the prospect of global famine seems a bit extreme. And I seriously doubt that the army has lost contact with any command groups. Individual units on a squad level, maybe, but not the larger operational units.

Very interesting, and tracks withh some of what was being said in the Russia Invades Ukraine thread about why Putin didn't seem to know how bad of shape the Army was in.

I was just chatting with my neighbor who has a 16 year old son. His son was procrastinating on his homework and his grades were slipping so my neighbor took away his phone. When I was growing up, not being able to watch TV was the standard punishment. But losing phone access? That's a MUCH higher level of punishment! It's your connection to the world.

Venezuela says those behind NATO expansion should de-escalate Ukraine crisis President Nicolas Maduro insists that Moscow’s conflict with Kiev was ‘provoked’ by the West
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro accused the West of provoking Russia’s conflict with Ukraine on Monday, after senior US officials met with his government over the weekend.
In a speech, Maduro said that “those who provoked this conflict with decades of non-compliance with agreements, with decades of threats against Russia, with decades of preparing plans for the extension of NATO are the first ones who are responsible for de-escalating this conflict.”
Maduro called on those responsible to seek “a favorable scenario of negotiation and agreement” to end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
The president also said Venezuela was “seriously concerned about the possibility of a war in Europe and an extension to other regions of the world,” and criticized the “public media campaign of hate” and “economic measures that aim to aggravate conditions” and extend the conflict, rather than de-escalate the situation.
Maduro’s words came after senior US officials traveled to Venezuela over the weekend to meet with Maduro’s government in their highest-level visit since the US broke off diplomatic relations in 2019.
While the US refuses to identify Maduro as the legitimate leader of Venezuela, instead recognizing pro-US politician Juan Guaido as the ‘interim’ president, the New York Times reported that the Biden administration was looking to “separate Russia from its remaining international allies” amid Russia’s conflict with Ukraine.

Edit: Sorry about the edits. So, I am not communicating very well today. This is not a "Russia wide" poll, only a sampling of Moscow, which is one city, with young people who have access to internet. It does show at least a trend in that one "market" that could be at least a little bit encouraging. Would be nice if there could be a real poll to see if the general trend of how Russians are viewing this war could be accomplished, but when you have a government that is shutting off all access to information, don't know how that could be accomplished.
