The storm is moving north of Kauai. We might get some thunderstorms late tonight or early tomorrow, but more likely there will just be some on & off showers, nothing dramatic. The other islands are drying out, cleaning up and dealing with power outages.

As I recall from my lessons in speaking Minnesotan, the word for 6" to 14" of snow falling in a couple of hours is "flurries."

I just came in from tying up all the Christmas lights out front and bringing anything that will fly inside. We are mostly just getting rain from this system, but tomorrow the winds are gusting to 60 MPH for about eight hours after thunderstorms in the morning.

We were taking the grandkids out for holiday lights at an amusement park tomorrow evening, but it's at the top of the hill overlooking one of the rivers, so that's not happening. :(

At least it's not snow.

I went out about 9:00 this morning and got groceries and gas for the snowblower. The snow started very lightly about 11:00 and is falling pretty heavily right now. I'd guess we've had about 3" so far. I cleared a path to the mailbox. We'll easily have 8" by the time this is done at this rate. It's supposed to stop in the early morning hours. Minnesota will have the interstate cleared quickly and my suburb will have my street cleared before I get out there tomorrow morning. I'm just glad I'm not on the highways right now! They are a mess with crashes and spin-outs.

Forty two this am, not that I’ve even seen the outside for 5 days. Home, currently 58 outside, will go no higher.

But the sun is streaming into the room and my feet are cozy with cats and dogs.

All’s right with the world.

I guess "cozy with cats and dogs" is way better a forcast than "raining cats and dogs" ;)

Looking at those storm reports, I guess I won't complain about the 13" of snow that we've gotten. And it's not over. But my snowblower will make quick work of it. This whole weather system sucks.
