Parts of the organ are 250 years old. As is normal, it has been rebuilt many times over the years in part to fix things that were failing and also to bring it up to date with later musical standards so it can play the newer repertoire. It probably contains much of the old pipework but it has been revoiced.

Here is the organ used in the video game playing Vierne. I assume the organist in the video was likely the one used for the game music as he is the incumbent musician there (though he could have allowed another one to do it).

The same thing but in a simple stereo format, if speakers are having trouble with the above.

(note: while there are folks here who are non-religious, which is perfectly fine, at this time of year, I can't help posting music that has such beauty).

While the right is busy lamenting their "war on Christmas" I am busy with the beauty of Advent. Tomorrow I am doing the following two songs, along with a bunch more as it is our Lessons and Carols service. Sadly, I don't have a cathedral organ or a cathedral, but it will lovely anyway. IMHO, no "praise song" can compare and this is one reason I love my job.

A partial recording of Palestrina's Matin Responsory. It was cut shorter as it is more of an advertisement for Salisbury Cathedral's Advent service. I included it because of the Darkness to Light stuff.

This is one of my favorite hymns.

For a palate cleanser, he is my favorite hymn done, um, differently. I giggled at this. She's actually pretty good at matching styles and instrumentation.

That song means a lot to me because the person I sent it to was *not* "safe and sound". He ended dead. Young at age 19.
5 Years after I sent him the video.

:bighug: :brokenheart: I am so sorry. I have put that song on my playlist on YouTube because I loved it so much. Now, it will have more meaning for as I will keep the love you had for another in my heart when I hear it again.

Thank you neon!!!!

Bill and Taffy Danoff were local faves even before Starland. They’re the older couple.

I used to work at a hippie emporium in Annandale called the Rainbow Tree. Bill and Taffy were browsing the records and jewelry, clothing and books one day when a storm kicked off the electricity. It also locked us in 😮 when the electronic door system we just installed died. So did all the registers.

So Bill and Taffy gave an impromptu concert. One of my favorites is When You’re Loving Your Lady and All You Get’s Babies, You’ve Got Them (Rhythm and Blues).

I tried to find "When You’re Loving Your Lady and All You Get’s Babies" on the google/youtube.

All that came up was Journey. It is probably reasonable and fun too.

Its almost getting close enough to Christmas time for this.

This would be Australia's number one Christmas anthem by a long way.

Has everybody heard about the bird?
