(a little imagination therapy for Sugar)

We're making split pea and ham soup today. The ham bones simmered all night, and the house smells wonderfully spicy this morning. Add in the aromas from chopping celery, carrots, and onions. Layer that with some rising yeast rolls, and you have a delicious Fall morning with a beautiful dawn just peeking over the horizon.

Pour you a cuppa?

Y'all. These last couple of days have been rough. Real rough. The muscle and joint pain is about to do me in. I'm beginning to panic a bit about the wedding. Each day, I think I'm better, but by the end of the day I'm completely wiped out, and there is a ton of stuff left to do this week. Fortunately, my husband took the entire week off and he takes direction well, even though he's slow as Christmas. Regardless of what gets done and what falls by the wayside, they'll be married at the end of the day. I'll do what I can and I know she'll understand. I really, really hate it has to be like that though.

We moms and dads always want to be everything, do everything to usher our children through the bad and the good. It's difficult when we cant be all. But the loveliness of families is letting them stand up when we cant. This sweet girl will have wonderful memories of when you did what you were able to despite what you were going through. You are all blessed. ❤

This is so you, Sugar. Practical, down to earth and knowing the important things in life.

I hope the wedding goes smoothly and the chemo doesn't hit you so hard in the future.

Chemo's tough. Do what you can and don't worry about what you can't. It will be a beautiful day. :bighug:

And mine. You’re a beautiful soul. Be kind to yourself; this is no time to feel badly about what you can’t do right now for your loved ones. :bighug:

Can you hire one of your friends who knows you well and who can complete your vision to help your sweet husband?

Hang in there, Sugar, it does get better.

You probably are at the nadir point for this round and will start bouncing back to feeling better. Each day will be better til the next session when the cycle starts anew, but at least you know what to expect. Take care of yourself and rest.

Optimistically, it feels like I am back on the upswing just as fast as I fell off the cliff a week ago. Woke up almost completely pain free and felt like I had slept well. Over the past few days, my sleep deprived, pain addled artist brain has concocted the most wonderful visual for not only the pain and general yuckiness, but also what the chemo is doing to make me feel like that. The chemicals are actually millions of tiny little warriors on horseback, wielding flaming spears and rampaging through my body looking for the cancer cells. My muscles and joints hurt because the little warriors are checking every part of my body for any escapee cells from the tumors. They have to check every single inch of my body in case one single errant cell is hiding, waiting to emerge later. The razor sharp hooves and white-hot spear points are searching every nook and cranny of muscles, joints, organs and tissues to root out the invaders. Once they have examined every inch of muscle, pushing and pulling, looking under, over and around every fiber, the army moves on to my joints. Sharp spears prying the bones apart so the warriors can examine every millimeter for something out of place. Finding nothing of concern, they move into my gut. Lots of twists and turns and cul de sacs and dead ends that need to be examined, and I lie as still as possible to make it easier for them to explore as quickly as possible. As soon as each side effect begins to pass, I can feel the warriors moving on to the next area, and take heart in thinking "Nope, nothing here of concern, on to the joints!" An entire regiment of them have already set up camp at the tumor sites and are carefully targeting the bad cells and avoiding the good cells. They are all moving in formation against the tumors, surrounding them, precision planning on display as they move against the invaders. As the spy boy warriors find nothing in my muscles and joints and gut, they move quickly to join the troops stationed at the tumors. My warriors are stronger than my disease and they WILL overcome it.
