Still alive!

Post by Lani »

My birthday was on the 3rd. No need to respond to that. I wondered why it wasn't posted, but then I found out that the change in the forum removed my b'day.

I'm still alive, like it or not. And loving being here. :bighug: And still being a civil rights advocate for people who face discrimination. :boxing:

Yummy cake! Thanks!

I forget that I'm on facebook. :? Guess I should visit it again and see what's up there. I should probably find out how to close it to the public.

I received my son's B'day present today. It's a jade statue of Ganesha. I've commented here before about my encounter in Indonesia with Ganesha, which led to me meeting my former partner. And we adore our son. He knows that we found each other when we were searching for ancient Ganesha carvings and still love each other, even though not a couple. :lovestruck:

Big excitement on my dinky island! Target has opened! Kmart closed down awhile ago, so we were stuck with Walmart. I hate that place. The aisles are crowded with boxes, the lines are long, people are grumpy. And as an ADA specialist, I was disgusted with the crowded aisles and the broken mobility scooters/carts. Also, they banned employees from speaking other than English on Walmart property. (I filed a complaint about that.)

I found out that Target sold things I needed were less expensive than Amazon and Walmart. Routine stuff like dog food & chews, soup, detergent, shampoo, vitamins, every day things. My orders always arrived within 3-4 days, free shipping. Now I can order items and pick them up same day at the store.

Yeah, it doesn't take much to make us happy here!

Meanwhile, I'm working on retirement in 2022 and looking for a dog friendly condo near a park in a walk-able neighborhood on Oahu.

Plans for retirement are underway. Next week I have a zoom meeting with son & real estate agent. I want a condo with a nice, dog friendly yard. No higher than 3rd story (prefer 2nd story) cuz of elevator malfunctions/loss of power. Accepts big dogs & near a dog park. Located in a specific voting district (for reasons...). I wanted a 2 bedroom/2 bath unit, but now we are considering 3/2 so son, partner (who calls me mom) and I will live together. Don't know that how will work out , but it's been very difficult for us to be apart since 2020.

I've been going through "stuff" and tossing or giving away things to charities. That's going to take awhile, so I'm working on it now.

Sorry I missed your birthday! Belated wishes that it was a very happy one. I can't even say I got it on Facebook. I haven't been on it very much lately.

At first, I was scared. I didn't plan to retire any time soon, but now I'm such a mess that if I had to work in the office, people would see how weak I am.
