What they're saying: NYT spokesperson Danielle Rhoades said in an emailed statement that the Times planned to "vigorously defend" the lawsuit, which she said was "an attempt to silence independent news organizations." She said the Times' coverage of Trump's taxes "helped inform citizens through meticulous reporting on a subject of overriding public interest."

Mary Trump told responded to the suit by telling the Daily Beast that her uncle was a "loser" who was acting out of "desperation." "The walls are closing in and he is throwing anything against the wall that will stick," she said. "As is always the case with Donald, he’ll try and change the subject."

My first question was who is filing this. Alina Habba of Habba, Madaio & Associates of Bedminister, NJ.

https://www.linkedin.com/in/alina-habba-esq-836126b/
https://habbalaw.com/alina-habba
Alina Habba, Esq. is currently the Managing Partner of Habba Madaio & Associates LLP. Prior to founding this firm, she served as the Managing Partner of Sandelands Eyet LLP a litigation firm for seven years growing the business to the entire Northeast region.

Alina has experience in many areas of litigation and transaction work including corporate litigation and structuring, entertainment law and social media, real estate and the financial services industry. Alina often serves as corporate counsel for her clients who need counsel for everything from formation to company management and dispute resolution.

Prior to going into private practice, Alina was a law clerk to the Honorable Eugene J. Codey, Jr., then Presiding Judge of the Civil Superior Court in Essex County, New Jersey. Alina is licensed to practice in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.

With extensive accomplishments in her field, she has been selected to the 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 Super Lawyers Rising Stars List as well as the Litigation Counsel of America with less than one-half of one percent of American lawyers, vigorously vetted for skills, expertise, and service. She is a recipient of the New Jersey Administrative Office of the Courts Certificate in Mediation & Conciliation Skills having mediated numerous matters in the Civil Division. Alina has been a member of the New Jersey, New York, and American Bar Associations and has served on the Insurance Defense Committee as well as the Equity Jurisprudence Committee for the New Jersey State Bar Association.

As the Managing Partner, Alina is a firm believer in continuous growth and education. She completed a Negotiation course at Harvard and most recently concluded the Harvard Business School Executive program in Leading Professional Service Firms. Outside of her clients needs, Alina manages all firm business, human resources and financial matters.

Alina prides herself on being a involved in charitable organizations in her spare time including sitting on the board of Birth Haven, an organization for homeless pregnant women, and recently being nominated as the recipient of the 2020 Women’s Achievement Award by tri-County Scholarship Fund which provides private schooling for children in desolate areas of the state of New Jersey.
I'd imagine Stern would be suitably impressed by her selection to the Super Lawyers Rising Stars List ;)

When I read he added "the 45th President of the United States," as if it added weight to his complaint, I had a chuckle.
May the bridges I burn light my way.

Self promoting stuff on your website is supposed to make you sound pretty good.

As Somerset noted, the Super Lawyers thing is a joke. The publishing company sells a ton of ad space to lawyers trying to polish their reputations. More $$ = more "recognition."

I was wondering about that, does that make the claim semi-official perhaps? Could a party argue to dismiss the claims cause they were not made in his personal private capacity?

And it's possible her free legal services may still cost the OSG in the end. He may come out with even less than what he started with.

Litigating NDA violations can be like litigating patent infringement. Sometimes you win the infringement/violation case and get awarded damages. But sometimes you don't win, and in the process of losing you may also end up getting your patent or NDA invalidated. When that happens, you not only lose your first case, you also lose any other benefits you were getting from your patent or NDA. The OSG's NDAs were already starting to weaken from previous losses, and this case may well weaken them even more.

tfg was on a tear yesterday. Apparently, not only did he win, but also two Republican Senators in GA, one in AZ, and one in MI won as well.
