Nah, it's just following the deer & other critters that are coming down out of the hills looking for water & munchies. We're seeing coyotes wandering around town too.

Stupid drought.

I wouldn't worry too much about coyotes. We had 'em around all the time in Tucson.

Of course you don't want to tempt them by leaving a small dog or cat out at night, but they pretty much stick to their normal diet when they can.

We also had javalina, gila monsters, an occasional rattle snake, and other critters.

I never saw a rattler in 20 years I lived next to the wildlife refuge, but my roommates dog scared one up one time when we were out horse back riding, and my mom's sheltie got bit on the nose by one shortly after I moved out. Her nose was swollen like a balloon and she was real sick for a while, but she recovered OK. Of course she did end up with a scar on her nose for a souvenir.

We did the missing-cat freakout when we first got Tinker, and my brother offered a helpful mantra:

Rather a complicated way to call cats to dinner.

It’s called kitty enrichment, not dinner.

I loved that.

Hubby says Kitty was merely fulfilling her role of horticultural critic to save maybenaut from horribly wrong plant choice. "Dere! I fixed it for you, Ma!"

We had a Manx once we named Harpo Manx cuz no voice and no tail. He would wake ME up by getting on my bedside table and rummaging the jewelry left there. He always selected the watch to drop on the floor. "Time to get up, Mom."

FLEAS! I’ve been eaten alive.

We knew she had them, but she was too little to treat. She’s FINALLY old enough and heavy enough for Frontline, so she got her first treatment today. We’re all going to be a lot happier.

You can use diatomaceous earth at any age. And in the carpet, wood floors and yard, too.
