A Gold Coast man who threatened the Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and the Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young last year has been found guilty, but has escaped jail time.

Aaron David Marriage, 43, has been found guilty of two counts of using a carriage service to send a threat to cause serious harm.

The ex-serviceman who told the court he served in Afghanistan was sentenced to four months in prison with immediate release and a good behaviour bond of two years.

Marriage sent a slew of Facebook messages to the Queensland Premier's Facebook page over a number of months, threatening to "wipe [them] from the face of the earth" over COVID-19 restrictions.

More than 50,000 people have watched a Sydney court's live stream of cases challenging the legality of mandated COVID vaccinations for NSW workers.

While a directions hearing is a relatively procedural step, the live stream on the court's YouTube channel attracted an enormous audience of more than 50,000.

A link to the hearing was shared to anti-lockdown Telegram chats, while participants later uploaded a recorded video of the stream.

Justice Beech-Jones set a two-day hearing from September 30, noting the legal regime may have changed by October after Dr Harkess requested time to have expert evidence organised.

Eddie Obeid and Ian Macdonald must go to jail over coal mine conspiracy, court told

Crown Prosecutor, Sophie Prosecutor Callan SC, said Eddie Obeid was previously jailed for five years for misconduct over Circular Quay Cafe leases, and that the mine licence conspiracy was even more serious.

"The objective seriousness is at the high end, because it included a breach of office by a Minister " Ms Callan said.

Justice Fullerton asked Ms Callan if a full time custodial sentence was the only option the Crown would consider.

"Yes,"' Ms Callan replied.

The judge noted that Eddie Obeid and Ian Macdonald had tendered a string of letters from medical professionals to argue why they should not go to jail.

They include letters from GP's, a neurologist, an ophthalmic surgeon, a gastroenterologist, details of an appointment with a psychologist and brain surgeon, and details about how COVID was being mentioned in the state's jails.

The court heard Macdonald suffers incontinence and might need a surgery.

Justice Fullerton said she has been given character references for Eddie Obeid by members of his family, extended family and a neighbour.

The hearing continues.

I'm sure the prison infirmary can attend to both men's medical needs. Millions of people are at the mercy of jail/prison infirmaries every year.

It's a good thing Obeid has family to write character letter for him. I'm sure those will help.

Woman found with loaded gun at SC Aquarium after refusing to wear mask, attacking detective

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - Officials with the Charleston Police Department say a loaded gun was found on a 56-year-old woman who went to the SC Aquarium and attacked a police detective after she refused to wear a mask.

Lisa Bostick was charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct, and unlawful carrying of a weapon. She was given a $26,319 bond.

A report states that Bostick told staff members to “**** themselves” when asked to pull her mask up from her neck to her face in order to be in compliance with the aquarium’s policies.

The detective reported that when he went to place her under arrest for disorderly conduct, Bostick struck him in the neck and chest area.

After she was detained, Bostick was escorted outside to the parking lot where detectives met with other police units. Investigators say she was found to be unlawfully carrying a firearm in public, and the aquarium had signs that stated “No Concealed Firearms.”
