Re: Corona Virus vaccination status poll
Got my second (Moderna) shot yesterday. Woke up feeling okay today except for my arm hurting like hell. But as the day has drifted on, I've been fighting off a headache, become rather fatigued, and mysterious aches are flaring up. I don't feel like making dinner so I think I'm going to have a can of soup instead.
But I'm glad it's done. For now.

90% fully vaccinated and not a single person who declined. Are we good or what?

Re: Corona Virus vaccination status poll
Our numbers keep going up so now I have a decision to make. With Illinois also opening up to phase 5, do I take the mask off my avatar or leave it on? Well, I have rather decided to keep in on for indoor things, even when not required. Though we were really good up here about masking indoors (at least in my town) so I probably don't have any conservatives to annoy, but the temptation is still there.
I was working with another parishioner yesterday in moving stuff around and we did unmask for that (were are both fully vaxed).
Still, I think there is part of me who may still be comfortable with the mask and not just as a need to jab the anti-jab folk. I will really be torn when they say we can sing without it at church.

Re: Corona Virus vaccination status poll
ms.tek got a re-jab this morning.
She had gotten the two-jab moderna way back, but her oncologist did some tests last month and was pretty convinced it didn't work because of the remnants of chemo.. he wrote a prescription for a J&J jab, but the retail pharmacies wouldn't administer it because it isn't in the CDC protocols..
Her PCP said she would do it, but she did/does not have any vaccine available. Did not know who did/would.
But this morning she decided to give it another try. She went to a doc-in-a-box. The doctor there looked at her test results and the doctor's note, and said "sure, we'll do it."

Happy news! In my county (King County WA, i.e. Seattle), 77.4 percent of people 12+ have had at least one dose; 70.3 percent are fully vaccinated.
In my zip code, 88.7 percent of people 12+ have had at least one dose.

Vaccinations have slowed to a trickle in my county. We stand at 51% with at least 1-jab, 40% fully vaccinated.northland10 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 14, 2021 7:30 pm Our numbers keep going up so now I have a decision to make. My friend received his second jab today from the health department -- they closed the mass-vax location down 2 weeks ago and are doing vaccinations at their two DOH locations. He went this morning and there was only one other person who was into his 15-minute wait time. My friend was there for 25 minutes total and no other person came in to be vaccinated during that time.
Interestingly, he said none of the three workers present were wearing masks.
Re: Corona Virus vaccination status poll
I just read that our county has only about 20% vaccinationed so far. This is embarrassing. I’ve been vaccinated but still wear a mask for the most part.
Businesses have went to voluntary compliance, i.e. unvaccinated-masks recommended; vaccinated-not necessary.
When I go to a store if people were following voluntary guidelines, it would appear thst the vaccinated rate is 100%. Hospitalization rate is rising. They’re restarting mass vaccination again. It was stopped a couple of months ago due to lack of interest. My wife has volunteered to administer and help with the clinic again.
Even though I’ve been vaccinated, there’s enough breakthrough cases that I feel that if I did get even mild symptoms, the mask would keep from spreading to others.
My opinion on the anti-maskers is if they feel that strongly about it would be comfortable letting a surgeon operate without a mask, and not wash hands?

Re: Corona Virus vaccination status poll
I was at the pharmacy yesterday and noticed a guy was getting a COVID vaccine. I couldn't see him because there was a screen around the area, but I could hear. He was getting the first Moderna shot. I later asked the pharmacist a general question about folks coming in now for the shot (vaccines have been highly available in our county for a while). I asked her what the general reason was, according to the patients: fear of Delta variant? Employers requiring it?
Her answer was straightforward: most of these laggards said their employers were requiring it. Big lesson here.

Re: Corona Virus vaccination status poll
My local big box hardware/home store has a sign at the door that states no mask required if vaccinated and mask required if not vaccinated. There is less than a 50% vaccination rate in my county. Inside the store I saw two people out of maybe 50 who were wearing masks. I need to revisit my grade school math.

Re: Corona Virus vaccination status poll
My county is at 50% fully vaxed which is still sad. I fear it may be due to the more rural areas. The downstate rural counties in Illinois are as low as 28%. They closed down the mass sites in my county a few weeks back, but it is easy to find a place to get one, like Jewel-Osco.neonzx wrote: ↑Fri Jul 02, 2021 11:58 am Vaccinations have slowed to a trickle in my county. The real me still wears a mask and I see no reason to stop (not that I go much of anywhere). In our reopening process, my parish is going to remain masked (some parishioners are upset at that of course). This Sunday however, is the first one where we can all sing and not just a few of us. We are ending capacity limits but that was not an issue in the first place with about half of the congregation still being on Zoom (we are expanding our Zoom capabilities as well). The summer also brings the number of people attending down anyway. It will be interesting how many come when the new Rector starts in September.
As for my dog avatar, with the unknowns regarding the delta variant, I believe I will leave the mask on even with much of the Fogbow community being fully vaxed.

Re: Corona Virus vaccination status poll
I am going to correct the vaccination rate for my county. I realized the number was counting the entire population even those under 12. Since they are not eligible, I did an estimation on the population over 12 (census data has over 18 and 5 and under but not 12 so I estimated). As such, it appears my county is closer to 61-62% fully vaxed.

I exchanged texts with a close friend in outer L.A.(CA) yesterday, and he expressed his hopes the vaccine is approved for under 12yo before school starts at the end of August... he and his wife have an 8 and 5yo. Re: Corona Virus vaccination status poll
I quit shopping at the grocery store I used to use all the time. Before vaccines were available hardly anyone in that store would wear a mask. I think went twice and then found another, even nicer, grocery store where pretty much everyone wore a mask. I still won't go back to the original store because I pretty much know the same people who refused to wear masks are the same ones who won't get a vaccine. If a store doesn't care enough about their customers' health to require masks they don't need my business.
My company has announced that they are going to respect everyone's right to vaccinate or not, but if you are not vaccinated you have to wear a mask and socially distance if you go to the office. We are still waiting on official word, but my supervisor is saying he believes we will have to work at the office once a month. I hope it's not any more often than that.

Re: Corona Virus vaccination status poll
It was finally my turn today, and I was given the first jab of the Moderna vaccine.
Denmark have had a very centrally planned vaccine rollout, with the population divided into 17 groups, first sorted by various underlying conditions, then by age group, with those deemed the least at risk from infection being last. However, the timetable has slipped continously, as first due to supply issues from Astrazeneca, then later by the decision to remove first the AZ and then later also the Johnson & Johnson vaccines from the plan entirely, due to potential sideeffects. There were concerns that we may have to stretch all the way until September or October to finish vaccinating the population, however due to a stroke of good fortune, we've been able to purchase spare Pfizer vaccines from Romania, who are having trouble with vaccine skepticism in the rural regions, and were at risk of having the vaccines go past their use by date.
I'm in group 10d3, which includes the age groups 25-29 and 35-39 (for a total of 669,342 citizens), and only 10d4 (ages 30-34) and the recently added group 11 (ages 12-15) are left. The calendar is available here: https://www.sst.dk/-/media/Udgivelser/2 ... DC5E85C3D8
I've also been invited to participate in the national vaccine efficacy study, which involved having blood drawn prior to both jabs, as well as a furthern four times in the coming two years.

Fully vaxxed is still in the low 50% here in Florida -- but I see very few out and about wearing masks. Another spike is coming, I fear.

NYC was > 70% when we left, yet you still saw masks everywhere. AZ now is ~44%, and it is pretty unusual to see a mask. I've actually had people come up to me to let me know I didn't need to wear one. YOU DON'T KNOW ME! HiPPO! And STUFF!

Re: Corona Virus vaccination status poll
Number two AstraZeneca today. Absolutely no side effects (as of 6 hours later).
We did get tested halfway between the two shots (6 weeks ago) because there was a surge going on and we figured we should. It was negative, but the very next day we had a snap 3 day lock down that turned into two weeks. We came out of that one, and I started trying to find where my barber had hidden herself. I had almost tracked her down when Sydney blew up and boiled over into Victoria. So I'm still looking a bit shaggy and getting worse.
Victoria numbers are pretty steady at 20 to 25 new cases per day, and it doesn't look like slowing any time soon, so we might be on lock down for another few weeks yet.

Congrats on completing the vax!
Amazing. Population about 6.7 million? Hawaii's population is just under 1.5 million, with 300+ to 900 cases in A FRIGGING DAY, current weekly average 674, and no one in power will talk about a lockdown. Well, other than people in charge of the hospitals.

I had my first Pfizer jab on Monday when it rolled out to here and my age group, 2nd will be 9/9 - only minor muscle sore.
Well run clinic - all masks* all distance 6 at a time took about 1/2 hr with post wait time.
* I haven’t seen a single unmasked person inside for the last few weeks*
*except when actually eating before the lock down stopped that.
