Immunocompromised people who are age 65 or older should get a second dose of the 2024-2025 COVID-19 vaccine, according to the latest recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

In a statement released Wednesday, the CDC said the second dose should be received six months after the first dose.

The CDC also said its recommendations allow for flexibility for those who are moderately or severely immunocompromised to consider additional doses (three or more). in consultation with their health care provider.
I hope they're on Medicare or some other private insurance. I got mine 10 days ago and they billed my Advantage plan $188.

Ugh. I went a couple of weeks ago and got my flu shot. For some reason I decided to wait to get my covid vax and...I came down with it yesterday. I thought maybe it was just a cold: sore throat, slight cough, congestion. But yesterday afternoon, I just went downhill. Terrible night with aches, chills, fever. The worst is not being able to breathe through my nose, rendering my CPAP useless. Decided to take a test this morning and that thing lit up like 4th of July fireworks. Boo. Was planning to hang with the grandtwins today, but nope.

That's unfortunate. And just in time for Christmas. Stay in isolation, and have some groceries delivered.

Thanks. I think I'll be fine by Christmas day. I also have a kid home from college who can go get groceries.

Not really sure where I got it. Unfortunately I was at lunch with friends yesterday, one of whom is immunocompromised. I changed where I was sitting so my few, not severe coughs (at that time) could be directed down into a corner wall. The worse was shaking chills (I was freezing) last night so I bundled up good. The woke up a few hours later burning up. LOL I'll feel terrible if I got my friends sick.

I'll be fine, but I'm skipping paxlovid this time. Not sure it helped much before. Just sad I won't get to see these guys today (or over the weekend). They live 10 minutes away, so I know I'll see them soon. My son and his wife had plans to "kidnap" us this evening, but I'll have to miss out on the fun.

Actually, MS has the strictest vaccine laws in the country, and only last year even allowed religious exemptions. It's a whole ordeal to get en exemption to begin with, medical or religious, and even then the law says your child can't go to school if they, or another student, has a vaccine-preventable disease. No blue card, no school. Pretty simple.

Our health Dept doesn't even allow the religious exemption until the parents watch a video of the consequences of not getting vacc'ed, and a nurse is required to counsel parents on the benefits.

Would never in a million years have thought that.

Thanks.

Thanks! their mama has the 'rona, too. I had it a couple of years ago, but it seems much worse this time. At least my nose is open today, although the muscle aches have gotten worse; even my fingers hurt. The loss of taste/smell is weird, too. I can just skip sugar in my coffee, so maybe that's a good thing. LOL

I went through the worst of it (20-21) without catching it. But I barely went anywhere and if I did, I always wore a mask. And got every vax asap.

I ordered the new free tests when they were available a couple of months ago. I had some old ones sitting on my desk that I had intended to throw out. The new test lit up right away, so I thought I'd see if the expired test still worked. Yep. Lit right up.

I had the same results with the old and new tests. I had it worse than a couple years ago, still not bad, and my wife only had mild symptoms for a couple days. A pharmacy tech related to my wife that the newest vaccine does not help much with this newest variant. Seems this virus evolves faster than we do.

Despite being vaxed to the max, I managed to pick up Covid on my holiday trip north. Although my symptoms haven't been more than bad head cold symptoms, eight days out I am still testing positive.

I had my most recent booster in September, as soon as it was available.

I pulled the tests that I had received from the government last fall for free and they had all expired in 2023 so up to the drugstore I went, masked up.

I had it twice this year. Once in June and again in November/December

both times it was horrid.

In June at one point, I had a temp of 107 according to hubby. I do not remember that day but remember waking up to ice bags in my crotch, under my arms and around my neck. Hubby was on the verge of calling 911.

got it again after Thanksgiving threw up neon green and yellow
