I wonder if there's a manure bucket attached to that tractor.

A truly Taitzian sense of style. All Marge is missing is the uniboob.

I've seen some comments that say the dress is a modern Vyshyvanka, a traditional dress of Ukraine, which would make this extra odd for Marge to be wearing. Is she trying to be ironic? Insulting? Just a dumbass? Qui sait?

Not the same dress, but leave it up to her to wear a knock-off.

There is an empire seam just under her boobs (where it looks sort of gathered) and the embroidered motifs are different. Original has the embroidery curving under the boobs instead of a seam, and the embroidery designs are different.

Interesting. I don't think Marge is that good at subtle messaging. She's blunt and forthright. She's a howler monkey. I think she's trying to convey she's a simple country girl ... without realizing which country. That would be her style. She is known for stepping in her own doo-doo. Not knowing the dress is Ukrainian after all her opposition to the support effort would be her style.

Looked the same to me, too, also, until sugar's expert analysis...but one disputes with sugar on matters of fabric & sewing at one's own risk. :lovestruck:

I love these differences in people's perspective. I see the things you're pointing out, but I'm not understanding the significance. But that's okay. If you see it, and are pointing it out, it's important. I just have to learn what to look for.

Respectfully disagree. Both dresses have an empire seam (the seam is actually visible on the model if you look close enough, there's a thin band of slightly brighter white) with the embroidery abruptly ending at the seam. The embroidery motif appears to be identical, but EmptyGee's dress is longer and therefore a different part of the motif hits the seam. Another difference is that EmptyGee is broader in the shoulders than the model, so there is more unembroidered white fabric at the neckline. Of course, from my perspective as a reenactor who has actually seen handmade Vyshyvanka, these are both cheap knockoffs, but there is nothing to indicate that there is any difference other than size (if you include length as part of the size).

Well, today I learnt a new (for me) term:
Empire seams are horizontal seams that join the bodice and the skirt parts of a dress – typically placed right underneath the bust.

And the thing is – empire seams need to be placed precisely underneath the bust to look right!
https://www.mariadenmark.com/2021/08/fi ... pire-seam/
As I don't make dresses, wear dresses, or have boobs/bust, perhaps Mr ignorance was excusable.

The Fogbelles are a wonderful wellspring of insight and information. :bighug:

Whaddya wanna bet Marge saw a style she liked, didn't understand that it was traditional Ukranian, searched for, and found, an ill-fitting knockoff on Temu, then wore it at a tractor show to try and win the mushroom king back from Loomer, not realizing that Loomer had already joined Marge in Coventry. Sad. These people are so weird.

Here's the catalog: https://www.handinpocket.com/products/c ... midi-dress# You can clearly see the empire seam in these pictures. Also, it's a print, not embroidered.

In fact, I don't think this is actually a Ukrainian motif. It's vaguely similar, in a generic Eastern European way, but not genuine Ukrainian.

Sorry, guys, guess it's my day to channel Suranis.

I judge it as Bart Simpson earning a 59 on a test after studying real hard, the best he could. Sometimes, you're limited by what you have.

And the truth shall ever come uppermost,
And justice shall be done.

All I know is one is wrinkled and the other is not.

I mean the outfit, not the person wearing it.

Oh, Mrs would have gone nuts over these seams where none of the patterns line up. She would find a way to make it look right, or drop the project entirely.
