I'm sure some folks on Twitter will be live tweeting it. But you have to be able to see Twitter. I think The New York Times will be live commenting on the debate, but I don't think I can do a gift link to it. Maybe they won't put it behind a pay wall? Maybe, but I doubt it. I'll keep looking.

Jay Kuo will be live commenting on The Big Picture. I'll follow along and maybe switch back and forth with Wonkette and Daily Kos.

Moderators should ask fuckhead how anyone could trust him when dozens of his previous colleagues and his own VP have disavowed him.

Think they will?

Probably not. But Harris can easily slide it in when she's asked about continuing or changing Biden policies (or how she differs, etc). Afaik it's the first time a vp has spoken out against the president under which he served (and pile on the other admin folks doing the same).

I Watch Snippets of Andrea MItchell so that You Don't Have To.

As of 12:15 today, she is _still_ hung up on What a Dilemma it is for Harris, who _must_ (obviously) disavow Biden's policies without looking like a flipper/traitor/egotist.

This started the day after she became the candidate. It has lasted through all the rallies, the DNC speech, and the CNN interview--all of which included Harris standing up for Biden's policies and for the man.

Lots of babbling heads on today, telling Harris what she _must_ do. No one sees the irony; no one mentions that the previous set of heads said exactly the opposite. I assume places have been set to bash her for what she did at the after party.

Makes Chris What's His Name's tingling leg look positively quaint.

I turned on MSNBC at 3 to see if there was any news. Nope. Just that Kamala is in trouble because so many people don't know her, and her honeymoon period may be over. Fuckhead? We are told that voters see him as the agent of change. The inevitability of a fuckhead win lies behind every word they say. No analysis; no wondering what's wrong with the electorate; not even a notation as to who they're quoting.

Just. Despicable.

Same thing on Irish radio. They had a "US Expert on" and he was talking on and on about the "Challenges that Harris has."

I will be at my weekly ukulele jam during that time. Plus I'm not watching any news before I leave. I'll catch up when I get home.

I've never watched a debate and won't be watching this one either. If that makes me a bad person, so be it.

Why disavow Biden’s policies? They turned the country around. Infrastructure, health care, jobs, respect on international stage. Awful.

The "common wisdom" is a load of cobblers. This reminds me of how Democrats felt they couldn't support Obama during the 2014 Midterms, and the ones that actually did support him and the ACA won with landslides.

She should be loud and proud in praise of what Biden has done, with her assistance.

I watched one debate - the first debate between Obama and Rmoney in 2012. I jinxed him - that was the only debate everybody agreed Obama lost. In my defense, W4 was visiting in my house, and I would have considered it somewhat rude to leave her and ol' Wifehorn watching, while I went upstairs to read a book. :batting:

I won't watch tonight, because I have 1) ol' Wifehorn, and 2) the Fogbow to bring me up to speed mañana. W4 isn't here.

I plan to watch it. I'm expecting the typical Gish Gallop from Trump.

I wish these venues that run debates would add a new policy - No Gish Gallop. As soon as it starts, the microphone gets cut and your opponent gets the rest of your time to say whatever they want to say. And then they get their normal turn as well.

I've stopped watching any national news before 4 PM. And I've cut back evening, too. I can't stand listening to very many talking heads. I watch local at noon, then start watching MSNBC at 4 PM. Weekends mostly just Velshi.

Hey, there is going to be a watch party with Tim Walz. Here's the linky. I have ABC on mute at the moment and the watch party YouTube opened up and ready. I may go back and forth between them, or pick one, or turn them both off, or who knows what. Keeping my options open.

In my weak defense (which even I don't buy), I don't really "watch". I just dive in. Then at four I am glued to Nicolle. My savior.

Y'know, I've become wildlly addicted to The Weekend Show, on MSNBC at 8 on Sat & Sun. I think it's the set and graphics, which I find so seductive. I'm a fan of Michael Steele (didn't t hink he'd survive an early moring show, but he's been awesome) and Alicia Menendez (she's actually better in other venues). I've not been a fan of Symone Saunders, ever, but she has gotten into a groove and (thank the gods) slooooowed dowwwwn and stopped swallowing evey third word, so that I can now understand her. She has also relaxed into what is obviously her true personna, and she is pretty hilarious So I'm no board with her now too. They've had some blockbuster guests and moments, the most noted of which was the outing of the Project 2025 guy, who made the mistake of coming onto the show and...telling his Nazi truth.
