I don't know why but recently I am getting Facebook ads for YouTube videos of Deutsche Grammophon recordings of Herbert von Karajan.
So, he has been dead now for 35 years.
When in college I first started collecting recordings of Wilhelm Furtwangler he had only been dead 16 years. I felt further removed from his time then than I now feel removed from Karajan's time.

Maybe all the Bruckner stuff got mashed together and popped out one of the conductors who recorded many, if not all, of them. Too, also, von Karaja is always a good choice.Volkonski wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 7:37 pm I don't know why but recently I am getting Facebook ads for YouTube videos of Deutsche Grammophon recordings of Herbert von Karajan.

Yes, Karajan is one of the greatest. But my footprint should make AI computers tag me as a especial fan of Furtwangler and Koussevitsky.

I don't even get Kousevitsky ads, and I was prepping the piano part for his Double Bass Concerto last year, which involved listening to recordings. I also went through other arrangements (with his hand in it) for double bass and keyboard this year.

I dunno if I'm jealous of youse guize or not.
I spent something like 18 months searching for 3 different Karajan performances of "Thus Spake Zarathustra" (1959 Vienna, 1973 Berlin, and 1983 Berlin) because somebody told me that the '59 was used in "2001 Space Odyssey" the movie but the '73 was used on the soundtrack. I was gonna try to verify with my ears. I never got around to it cause I'm a lazy SOB, and while I've got 2 Karajan LP's I think they are both the 1973 performance (which is considered the superior performance). I'm still looking for the '59 and the '83 (I do have the movie on bluray though). I also have the Karl Bohm 1958 performance, but that doesn't figure into my experiment.
Point is I spent a lot of time on the innertubes looking for those LP's but I don't get plastered with DG ads. I never went looking for transparent clothing try on videos, but I keep getting invites to watch 'em.
Why come?

I have no idea where you've looked, but:
https://www.discogs.com/
is a fairly good place to track down obscure vinyl.

The Karajan Vienna Philharmonic recording on English Decca is heard in the movie.
The MGM soundtrack record issued in the USA uses a performance by Karl Bohm from Deutsche Grammophon because Decca would not let them use the Karajan recording. The Karajan recording is
not credited in the movie at Decca's request.

Yeah, I know Discogs, but I'm avoiding buying off there these days cause I've been burned a couple of times.
I guess I got the concept right but the performances involved wrong.

Mrs loved AGT. She loved all the dancing with stars, singing stars, and talent shows. I couldn't keep up with all her shows. But AGT was definitely top of her list. She woulda made me watch this with her.
