CNN —

West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin announced Friday that he will not mount a 2024 campaign for president.

“I will not be seeking a third-party run. I will not be involved in a presidential run,” the retiring Democratic senator said in a speech at West Virginia University in Morgantown.

Manchin has been on a national listening tour as he weighed jumping in as a third-party presidential candidate, potentially on the No Labels ticket. He has criticized President Joe Biden for being too liberal but also said that he would refuse to be part of any effort that would help Donald Trump return to the White House.

Hasn't his entire legislative career been an effort to help Donald Trump return to the White House?

He is not and never has been a Democrat.

If he is still in the Senate in January, and the R's take the majority, my bet is that he will switch parties.

He's not running again. That Democratic seat (always was an in-name only from way back when the Dems were in control in WV) will go to a repulblican next year. He has managed to win as a Democrat in a state turned red for quite a while. I think he knew that time was gone.

If he did run as an independent, who the heck would this DINO Manchin guy hope to take votes from?

He hasn't been an actual Democrat for years, any more than Sinema. Does he really think he's gonna steal votes from Biden?

I guess the answer is no he doesn't, and that's why he isn't gonna run.

I have never heard of this man before, but he speaks some real truth here. "Manchin will continue to speak some stupidity here..." Yup. Features statements made by Clyburn this morning.

Sen. Joe Manchin says he won't run, calls for "mini primary"

https://www.cbsnews.com/live-updates/bi ... e-c2208eab
Sen. Joe Manchin, a former Democrat-turned-independent from West Virginia, said on "CBS Mornings" Monday that he will not run for the Democratic nomination against Vice President Harris.

"I am not going to be a candidate for president," Manchin said. But he said he would like to see a competitive process to choose the nominee.

"I think a lot of people would like to see a mini primary," Manchin said. "That's the process — find out if you have the strongest candidate, whether it could be Kamala or whoever else."

He said he considers Harris "absolutely" too far to the left, and said "I would like to see that direction change."

Elderly plutocrat pretending to be a Democrat desperately tries for one last day in the Sun.
The Democratic Party needs to inform him to go pound sand. He has been jerking them around for years, using the Joe Lieberman playbook.

I think the resounding reply would be no thanks.

He's not a Democrat so as far as I'm concerned the process Democrats use to choose the nominee in this unique situation is none of his damn business.

The worst he could do right now is change his mind and caucus with the GOP because the Dems won't do things his way. And we've been living with that thread since before he went (I). So at this point, >shrug<.

As round and round we run;
And the truth shall ever come uppermost,
And justice shall be done.
