Joe endorses Kamala

I hope he was holding out to get support for her if he stopped his campaign.

I would have voted for Kamala in the 2020 primary if she had been on the NY primary ballot (ended up voting for Liz).

I will be delighted to finally vote for her in November 2024. And no one else.

In case you can't read the tweet:
Joe Biden @JoeBiden
My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term. My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made. Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this.
Reactions:

Harry Sisson @harryjsisson 9m
Joe Biden will go down in history as an American hero. A selfless politician and leader who put the country before himself every single time, which is the complete opposite of Donald Trump. We, the American people, owe him our gratitude and appreciation.

Gavin Newsom @GavinNewsom 21m
President Biden has been an extraordinary, history-making president — a leader who has fought hard for working people and delivered astonishing results for all Americans. He will go down in history as one of the most impactful and selfless presidents.
Thank you, @JoeBiden

Ben Rhodes @brhodes 19m
Just like that, Americans see something transformational: a leader putting his country ahead of any personal interest or ambition. A seismic jolt of energy that raises the bar on all of us to get out there and do whatever it takes to win this election.

If you read Tim Alberta's Trump story, this makes total sense:

Tim Alberta @TimAlberta 2m
That sound you hear is the Trump campaign ripping up a detailed, brilliant, and suddenly useless blueprint for beating Joe Biden

Sarah Longwell @SarahLongwell25 28m
Trump campaign is freaking out right now.

A take that many have:
The Biden Accomplishments Guy @What46HasDone
Congratulations to the donors, the media, the white Congressmen, and bedwetters: You guys did what Trump could not. You threw out my vote and the votes of a legally cast election. Congrats, you "defended Democracy".

Don't patronize me with "this was his choice." There is no choice in promising him electoral defeat by backstabbing him until election day or forcing him to abandon the nomination that he rightfully won. Joe Biden has more integrity in the tip of his pinky then you all have in your whole worthless bodies. Just because he did this when the other option you presented him was worth, does not in anyways make it a choice.

So I'm out. This is all of your mess to clean up now. Wake me in October and I will send in my ballot like a good boy. But this is no longer my responsibility or my fight. Maybe I'll stop by at points if I feel like it. Maybe I won't. But you have freed me from any sort of obligation or responsibility of it.

The "Democratic" Party in your hands now. Good luck. You're sure as shit going to need it.

Before the media gets rolling, let me be clear: The Democratic nominee for president will be on all 50 state ballots. There is no basis for any legal challenge. Period.

Thanks Joe. (Actually, thanks, Jill.)

Joe must be in worse condition than even his family and staff have tried to portray. And getting worse every day. He was clearly not fit and could not stand the rigors of another campaign. The whole point of the early debate was to demonstrate his fitness. It did. He wasn't.

Now we have a horse race. Since Joe has endorsed Kamala Harris, we need a VP candidate. I am predicting Josh Shapiro.

I'm not sure if he adds anything to the ticket, but who does at this point? And he's smooth.

Manchin has been floated (for "balance" purposes). LOL, no. :talktothehand:

And, of course, the bithers are already out there. Maybe this will motivate Laity to file something. :towel:

Can we start digging into the assassination attempt? Without that I don't think Joe would have bowed out. Joe was gaining the momentum back. There needs to be pressure to release the medical report

Not my country, not my President. If Joe Biden is as good a man as I think he is I’m astonished he has not only survived in politics but attained the highest office. I do not question his decision but it’s a sad day for me. :(

Not a bad idea, but I'm not sure about giving up that relatively safe senate seat.

:yeahthat: :yeahthat: :yeahthat: :yeahthat: :yeahthat: And I want them to endlessly talk about how unfit he is and how he needs to drop the fuck out.

I had wished upon wish that Biden had decided not to run way way way way back as I had expected right from the start. But once he decided to run I was all in on getting him reelected. I was hoping that we would have a truly exciting youthful Democrat on the ticket. I love Kamala and so glad Biden has backed her. I was so proud to vote for Hillary. I was so proud to vote for Joe. I will be so proud to vote for Kamala.
