Leopards don't change their spots, and Trump will always remain the vicious, nasty little man he's shown us to be time and again. He will always be vengeful. He will always hate women, minorities, non-Christians, immigrants, etc. It's built into his DNA.

He said he was blessed. I'm sure he believes he's gawd's chosen now. Even if he doesn't believe in that gawd.

Getting shot didn't help Wallace. I can't see anyone changing their mind, or making it up, because of this.

But, good golly, the conspiracy nonsense is just amazing. Be the first on your block to make up some inane bullshit.

The AntiChrist survives what would normally be a fatal attack. So, there's that. Plus, all the "Lookit me, Ima Christian" folks support him, and the AntiChrist doesn't come to deceive non-believers in the first place.

Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) said Sunday Sen. JD Vance’s (R-Ohio) response to the attempted assassination of former President Trump should “disqualify” him from serving as vice president.

Vance, a contender for Trump’s choice of running mate, said in a social media post on Saturday that the shooting was “not some isolated incident” and suggested President Biden’s campaign was, at least in part, at fault.

“The central premise of the Biden campaign is that President Donald Trump is an authoritarian fascist who must be stopped at all costs,” Vance said on the social platform X. “That rhetoric led directly to President Trump’s attempted assassination.”

Kinzinger — a former GOP member of Congress who became a frequent Trump critic — responded to Vance’s post, saying, “This should absolutely disqualify @JDVance1 from VP.”
I read somewhere this morning that the SS has upped Vance's security detail.

Edited to add:

And so what if Biden did order it. SCOTUS just said he could.

("New") 538's guesses as to who will win his veepstakes:

Tim Scott; Kari Lake; Kristi Noem; Elise Stefanik; Nikki Haley; Marsha Blackburn; Marjorie Greene; or Sarah Sanders.

My personal guess is Noem.
That was November; here's the updated version: ("New") 538 (ABC): 8 people who could be Trump's VP pick:

Tim Scott (same); Kristi Noem (up one); Elise Stefanik (up one); Tulsi Gabbard (new); Kevin McCarthy (new); Marco Rubio (new); J.D. Vance (new); and Kari Lake (down six).

I'll still take Noem.
Here's what 538 was saying about Vance in March:
nrakich: OK, for my second pick, I'm going to go with a more boring answer: Sen. J.D. Vance. Now, I think a woman or a person of color has the inside track here, but I don't think it's a de facto requirement for the GOP the way it is for the Democrats, with their much more diverse coalition. And Vance keeps popping up on public reports about Trump's short list. He's also on Trump's good side (despite saying some anti-Trump things back in 2016), having received Trump's endorsement for Senate in 2022, and has an inspiring personal story, as recounted in his memoir "Hillbilly Elegy."

cooper: He's certainly been a Trump warrior since arriving in the Senate; last year, he voted against Biden 90 percent of the time. That's more than all but 12 of his Republican colleagues. If Trump is looking for a loyal lieutenant, Vance (or his voting record, at least) seems like he would fit the bill.

geoffrey.skelley: I wondered if Vance would come up. He's certainly become something of a spokesman for the new right that Trump helped energize with his victory in 2016. I don’t know, though, if Trump would want to deal with the litany of Vance’s past anti-Trump comments that would inevitably resurface. Trump has referenced those comments even while campaigning for Vance, once saying, "J.D. is kissing my ass he wants my support so much."

gelliottmorris: I think the Vance pick comes with high uncertainty, mainly because it depends a lot on his personal preferences. He could probably keep his Senate seat for decades, and that's a lot to give up to be a glorified paper pusher for a few years. In January, someone asked him if he'd be willing to be Trump's VP, and he replied, "I think that’s the best place for me is to actually be an advocate of the agenda in the United States Senate." But he didn't completely rule out the possibility, adding, "But certainly if the president asked, I would have to think about [it]."
I presume Vance (like Harris) won't resign that Senate seat.

I don't care enough to look it up, but has he done anything in the Senate, other than obstruct?

The general answer is no.

Vance has been a senator for only 18 months, the Republicans never held a majority during that period, and he consistently votes against Biden's policies.

But I'm sure he got a post office renamed, or something.

That's just how insidious antifa / democrats / liberals are. Deep deep cover. Hide among the people, and then jump out with their dirty deed when the time's right. No one is safe. Anyone wearing a MAGA hat could be the next killer.

In the 48 hours before he opened fire on former President Donald Trump, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks made a series of stops in and around his suburban Pittsburgh hometown.

On Friday, he went to a shooting range where he was a member, and practiced firing, a law enforcement official told CNN. The next morning, Crooks went to a Home Depot, where he bought a five-foot ladder, and a gun store, where he purchased 50 rounds of ammunition, the official said.

Then, Crooks drove his Hyundai Sonata about an hour north, joining thousands of people from around the region who flocked to Trump’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. He parked the car outside the rally, with an improvised explosive device hidden in the trunk that was wired to a transmitter he carried, the official said. Then, investigators believe, he used his newly-bought ladder to scale a nearby building, and opened fire on the former president.

As investigators continue to search for a motive behind the attempted assassination, they are scrutinizing Crooks’ movements before the attack and trying to piece together a timeline of his actions leading up to it.

The man who was shot and killed was a firefighter (retired, I think). He was also a bigot. Interesting likes/comments on his twitter account.
