Other officials behaving badly
At some point these meritless and malicious people need consequences that are an actual deterrence.

Would Bailey's move be considered the kind of 'suit between states' that gets immediate SCOTUS jurisdiction? I seem to recall that in the recent past, the Supremes had very high standards on the kind of state-versus-state suit they'd take.

That's the scheme, yes.
But if filed at SCOTUS, it'll just be tersely dismissed (standing is still a thing, even at SCOTUS).
This is just taxpayer-bought lawfare in support of a candidate's campaign.

Well, as cases in recent years have demonstrated, is it depends…

In this case, if filed, I'm confident in predicting at least seven votes for a quick, terse dismissal.raison de arizona wrote: ↑Sat Jun 22, 2024 2:38 pmWell, as cases in recent years have demonstrated, is it depends…

I'm imagining the dissent, tho. Wow, that’s really egregious. What a nightmare.

What does Citizenship have to do with a license? My wife is not a US citizen yet she had a drivers license in Arizona.
This is pathetic.

We've had German exchange students who were frothing at the mouth to get their DL the minute they could. It had to do with the cost of getting a DL in Germany vs getting one here. They had no problem getting them.

Prof. Google says that you need a valid visa to get a DL in Tenn as a foreigner.

So doesn't that just take all.
Birth certifIcate lists both mother and father as USA citizens. Super easy for us Fogbowers to figure out the the right answer.
Tennessee gov is obviously a colony of Birtherstan.

A FL veteran gets to hear that he is not a US citizen
The story of a Florida veteran denied US citizenship attracts nationwide attention
ABC Action News
11 Jul 2024
One week since we brought you Paul Canton’s citizenship fight, viewers have reached out to us with both cynicism and outrage over what the former US Marine is dealing with. Canton is also hearing from many viewers, including a California attorney and podcaster, a veterans advocate, and even the office of U.S. Congressman and Floridian Gus Bilirakis, a Republican from Pinellas County. All of them watched our story on Canton’s years-long citizenship fight and want to help.

Ok, but he ain't a foreigner. He was born
in Canada to US citezen parents (just like Ted Cruz), and he could even run for and hold the office of President (just like Ted Cruz).

Well, I mean, if he was a citizen, he clearly didn't have a valid visa. BLQED.

Pretty much every official in Alabama could qualify for this topic, but today I'm highlighting two. One is Steve Marshall, the Atty General. His fame goes back to the RAGA group that paid for robocalls to get people to DC on J6. He's also remained silent when 2 (GOP, of course) secretaries of state referred this issue to him.
Alabama has a notoriously onerous voter ID requirement. The list of what counts is on the SOS website. Even to apply for an absentee ballot, you have to return a copy of a valid ID. The previous Sec of state closed down a bunch of office where you could get IDs but that's a different story (but suffice it to say all those closed locations were in areas of majority Black populations).
Anyway, back to this particular story, seems there's a guy named Wahl. He is head of the AL GOP and vice chair of the national GOP southeastern district. So, a real official. Seems he thinks he's exempt from AL's strict voter ID law He doesn't have/use a drivers license due to religious beliefs (AL has no voter ID exemption for religious reasons).
So Wahl decided to just make his own ID to use to vote, helped by his buddy the state auditor (he's a minor player in this officials behaving badly drama, but he has other actions that would be another post).

Also:“Opponents have repeatedly argued that Alabama’s voter ID law’s requirement that a voter must provide a photo ID is overly burdensome,” Marshall said in a press release in 2020. “As I have previously stated, Alabama’s voter identification law, by both design and practice, is easily satisfied, and it contains procedures to allow anyone who does not have a photo ID to obtain one.”
However, according to poll workers, when Wahl showed up to vote in 2022, instead of using a drivers license to vote, he presented poll workers with what appeared to be a state employee badge.
Only, Wahl wasn’t a state employee. And the badge wasn’t a state employee ID, like those used by state employees. Wahl had made it himself, with permission, he said, from then-state Auditor Jim Ziegler.
When I asked then-Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill whether the badge was an acceptable form of voter ID, Merrill said no.
“It does not meet the standard of any voter ID requirements listed under 17-9-30,” Merrill said in 2022, two months before his office forwarded the first complaint to prosecutors.
When I interviewed him then, Wahl agreed the legality of his ID was an issue.
“That’s a legitimate question,” Wahl said then.
And it was a question others had, as well.
When one of those poll workers questioned Wahl’s ID, Wahl asked the Limestone County Probate judge to have that poll worker removed. The poll worker, Clyde Martin, was later told his services were no longer needed.
https://www.al.com/news/2024/06/alabama ... -care.htmlWahl’s family had been known in Limestone County for their special approach to the state’s voter ID laws. According to court records, Wahl’s immediate relatives object to what they call “biometric” identification, including photo ID, which they believe to be the Mark of the Beast foretold in Revelation.
