So two presidential debates are now scheduled. CNN will host. Biden and Trump have accepted. News from CNN -

Biden and Trump agree to 2 presidential debates, with first set for June 27 on CNN
President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump have both accepted an invitation from CNN to debate on June 27, a historically early showdown that will set the tone for the final months of the 2024 campaign.

“I’ve received and accepted an invitation from @CNN for a debate on June 27th. Over to you, Donald. As you said: anywhere, any time, any place,” Biden said in a post on X.

Trump later told CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, “The answer is yes, I will accept.”

Later Wednesday morning, both men said they had accepted an invitation from ABC to hold a second debate on September 10.

The news is the latest development in a quickly escalating tit-for-tat over debates between the two political rivals. Biden’s campaign earlier called on Trump to join him for two presidential debates hosted by news organizations and formally informed the Commission on Presidential Debates that the president will not participate in its previously scheduled fall debates. The former president quickly said he was on board with earlier debates and told radio host Hugh Hewitt that he would accept any moderator.

I hope that they put a physical leash on TFG, so that he can not wander around behind President Biden, the way he did in the debate with HRC. I'm not kidding.

Personally, I would to have them in separate rooms, always visible to the camera and to each other, with their microphones turned off when it's not their turn to talk. If this is really an opportunity to get their views out to the voting public, this would be the obvious way to accomplish that.

I hope the moderator has a pit bull on a leash, warning trump to behave himself or else.

The moderator should have a spray bottle so every time he gets out of line they just spray him with water and just yell bad at him.

Maybe they should have a rule that, every time one of them (TFG) interrupts the other or walks behind the other, the time that the interruption lasts or the time of the perambulation will be deducted from the offender's time and added to that of the victim.

TFG would get about two words in for the whole debate.

A clear plexiglass divider down the center of the stage separating the two lecterns ( :oldman: ) would work. I hope they do something like that.

Let him act a fool against the moderators while Biden laughs at them. It's not gonna be a real debate anyway.

So, here's the thing.

Despite my rapidly advancing age--and despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary--I haven't quite gotten rid of the idea that I'm a font of wisdom (don't judge me). So I find myself thinking, "You've gotta be kidding. No _way_ fuckhead shows up for this. Just like he won't testify at any trial, he won't allow the real world to see his ignorance and babble." He has no grasp of any issue; he doesn't know the names of the heads of state internationally, and he sounds like a buffoon.

Just me, then?

CNN had Chris Wallace on earlier today, talking about the experience he had when he moderated. What a flashback of how awful tfg was, always interrupting.

Isn't this a little early as they aren't even "official" candidates yet?

Well, they are official candidates at this point: Candidates for their parties' nominations. ;)

But I take your point (and I somewhat agree), in June they'll both still be "presumptive nominees," and not actual nominees. June does feel a bit early for a debate. Yet, as the cartoon suggests, maybe one of the nominees will be in jail come September.

He’s the proverbial pigeon playing chess. He’ll knock all the pieces on the ground, shit on the board, and strut around declaring victory.

Nope. Remember after debate number one he basically refused to be in any more debates becasue Biden was rude (Ie Biden humiliated him and made him look like a clueless clown and shut him up.) Biden said "fine. I'll be there and I'll do a Q&A with the Audience. I don't care if he shows up." Then fuckhead talked another network into hosting a Q&A for HIM and said it would prove he is more popular when he beat Biden on ratings. More peopel tuned into Biden and then the media never mentioned the Q&As and the fact Biden beat him again because horserace. So he showed up for the third debate as Biden looked fantastic in his Q&A and Turnip looked pathetic.

The point is you're right. He wont want to turn up to the debates. The decider will be if he can make not turning up into looking like a winnar and not a losar.
