TESLA and Elon Musk - anything not elsewhere
A million years ago I drove for a reprographics company in Orange County. They had a fleet of Toyotas, but if you worked the later shift, which I often did, you were likely to get stuck with one of their two Yugos. Loud, uncomfortable, the seats & mirrors didn't adjust for someone taller than 5'6" (I'm 6'1"), and it had a top speed of about 42 (45 with a tail wind)
If I had to choose between one of those and a Cybertruck, I'd take the bus.

There was a stream of jokes in Europe in the 1980s about Škoda and Lada cars. I liked this simple one:
What do you call a Škoda with a sun roof? …
… A skip.
Maybe similar PsychoCybertruck jokes are already in play?
Out of an abundance of caution, for the linguistically confused, a large wheelie bin is a "skip" in most of l'anglophonie mondiale. 'Sept 'Murka? Dunno.

Yeah, we don't skip. We have dumpsters.

Clarifying it as "wheelie bins" didn't help me any. I have no idea what those are either.

We have 3 skips - dark green for rubbish, blue for recyclables, and light green for yard waste. The trucks always pick up the dark green, and then alternative weeks for the other two.
We have a very long driveway, and I have to skip those suckers more'n a hundred meters to the curb kerb pick up location, each way.

Given that there is only <4k of them on the road, I'm amazed that I've seen as many as I have. Somebunny in my neighborhood owns one though, and I think I'm seeing the same one over and over. Except I've also seen black and red ones that have been wrapped. The neighbor's is naked steel/handprint central.

Musk has bragged about 2 million deposits for these turds, so at this rate, he'll work through his backlog in about 40-50 years. I was a bit surprised to see that there were that many Musk-bro's with enough cash in the world.raison de arizona wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2024 12:47 pmGiven that there is only <4k of them on the road, I'm amazed that I've seen as many as I have. Here in tough, flinty, skeptical New England, I've seen precisely zero of these monstrosities, which doesn't exactly leave a hole in my heart.
I'd like to think that this is because we have a more educated populace than most of those red states (which is true) but it's also because we don't place as much emphasis on showing off by driving something fancy that would get trashed in winter weather. Unless, of course, you're a capitalist magnate in Fairfield County who owns a Porsche/Ferrari/Lamborghini/... that he can afford to drive only in the summer. And those folks wouldn't be caught dead in a Cybertruck, as they'd get laughed out of the country club.
BTW, given what we're discovering about this rolling POS, the following quote from Elmo has to be one of the most cluelessly narcissistic things I have ever heard, eclipsing much of TFG's oeuvre:

In short: Social media giant X says it will not comply with requests from the eSafety commissioner to take down content referencing the Wakeley stabbing.
Owner of X Elon Musk called the commissioner the "Australian censorship commissar".
What's next? Government ministers say they expect social media companies to comply with Australian law and protect the community, and are prepared for a fight in court.
Social media giant X (formally known as Twitter) has claimed it could face daily fines of $785,000 if it does not take down content that references the stabbing of Sydney bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel.
Following the attack on Monday night, politicians from across the country repeatedly called on social media companies to take down any content that risked further inflaming rising tensions.
The office of the eSafety commissioner said it had "engaged" with major social media platforms in relation to the resharing and reposting of class one content that depicted "recent violence" in Sydney.

Gracias jefe.
I've seen enough dumpsters in movies to be aware of their integral nature to so many plots (live or dead people or McGuffin objects hidden, falen into, lost or found in or behind them), but I think the term is technically proprietary, isn't it? But extended in the vernacular to the generic, rather as vacuum cleaners became hoovers, with whatever that means for its copyright protection.
But I wasn't sure if 'Murkans also understood "skip" or not. Now youse can spread the word!

Yeah, and I have three skips already, which I shall regard as a starter set. It's healthy for an elderly gentleman to skip along with his skips up and down the 100 meter driveway once a week. There's even a song!
Skip, skip, skip to my Lou,
Skip, skip, skip to my Lou,
Skip, skip, skip to my Lou,
Skip to my Lou my darling!
There's yer earworm for today, you are most welcome.

Correction - its not all Cybertrucks, just those manufactured between certain dates.
https://edition.cnn.com/2024/04/19/busi ... index.html
So the "4000" would be those manufactured in those 5 months. The NHTSA said the recall affects “all Model Year (‘MY’) 2024 Cybertruck vehicles manufactured from November 13, 2023, to April 4, 2024.
That means the 3,878 trucks being recalled are likely many, if not all, of the trucks now on US roads.
Ya it's probably the same thing, as the article says, but hey, accuracy.

If it's something I don't like, it'communism.
Letting black persons vote or for to the same school as whites was communism, so said the protest signs.
"It's Communism" is the fig leaf the ugly in heart people hide behind.
