I think we have a winner for Crime of the Week.

Gunshots in Wichita Falls leads to chase in Clay County

https://www.texomashomepage.com/news/gu ... ay-county/
A Dallas man is behind bars on multiple charges after Wichita Falls police said he fired gunshots into a woman’s apartment before leading Clay County deputies on a short pursuit.

Wichita Falls police responded to the 200 block of East Lincoln just after 9:20 a.m. on Friday, April 5. Officers said shots were fired, but none of the adults or three young children in the apartment were injured.

According to WFPD Sgt. Charlie Eipper, the suspect fired multiple shots into the victim’s apartment and then fled the scene in a Mercury Sedan.

The victim told police the suspect, 23-year-old Datorian Mathis, was angry with her refusal to speak to him upon his arrival at her apartment. She said Mathis was from Dallas and was probably going to return there.

WFPD issued a lookout warning for Mathis and his car. Clay County deputies arrested him on charges of evading arrest and criminal mischief after a short chase with a suspect that matched Mathis’ description.

The WFPD Crimes Against Persons Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Mathis on charges of deadly conduct. The warrant was served, though, at the time of this article’s publication, he is still in the Clay County Jail.

Mathis has warrants from Dallas for assault of a pregnant person and child endangerment. His bond is set at $100,000.

Quiet weekend here.

Mrs. V. is in DFW for an early music rehearsal and visit to our younger daughter and grandson.

Here our SIL and his brother are at the FallsCon board game convention downtown all day today and tomorrow.

Older daughter and the cats are watching women's soccer matches on TV all day.

Despite higher than average rainfall so far this year the combined levels for Lakes Arrowhead and Kickapoo are 55.3%.

The City has announced that water levels in the Wichita River are so low that they have had to turn off our fake falls which get water pumped from that river. :(

The cats have disappeared, right? No feline supervision?

Wichita Falls ISD officials warn of email scam

https://www.texomashomepage.com/news/lo ... mail-scam/
District officials shared a Facebook post on Friday, April 19, 2024, that said they’ve been made aware that some local businesses were receiving emails from campusboxmedia.com, claiming to represent WFISD.

According to the district’s Facebook post, the emails are fake, stating that the only authorized advertising for WFISD comes directly from WFISD.

“If you receive any emails from campusboxmedia.com, we urge you to report them to the Better Business Bureau immediately,” the Facebook post said. “Do not agree to any contracts or sponsorships with them, as they are not authorized to work with us in any capacity.”

We are now on the North Fork but Texoma news finds us here.

Last night's tornadoes missed Wichita Falls.

WF did get 4 to 7 inches of rain. :o The Wichita River is full.

I expect tomorrow's report on reservoir levels will show a substantial increase.

Heavy rains cause lake levels to rise by over 3 percent

https://www.newschannel6now.com/2024/04 ... 3-percent/
The combined source water area lake levels rose over 3 percent this week after rains.

Lakes Arrowhead and Kickapoo’s combined capacity rose 3.5 percent this week. This leaves the total at 59 percent.

City Public Information Officer Chris Horgen attributes this to heavy rains over the weekend. These rained over source water lakes and along the watershed.

As the Little Wichita River continues runoff, the lakes are likely to see even more increase in capacity.

Despite this increase, Wichita Falls water customers remain under Stage 1 Drought Watch restrictions.
