Is it art when you 'shop Hugh Grant's head on a short person's body to make an Ooompa Looopa for a movie?
I'm a bit weirded out by the trailerl I just saw.

This is the last thing many a brave enemy soldier sees when the dachshunds of the 699th and the roosters of the 107th Poultrywaffen are on a joint operation. The wiener dogs chew through the Achilles tendons, the soldiers topple and then the roosters peck the eyes out. All then feast on the corpse.

Did the artist include a water color of the chicken crossing the road, and then a follow-up of the chicken saying he never met the road (i.e. threw the road under the bus, again)?

Indeed, but inexplicable to me that so many would prefer to watch it by staring at their phone.

That was pretty good.

This from of a post on a tolkien art page where he was talking about why he posted an image of Goldberry (to quote everyone, "Who?") who was not "slender." he said the amount of vitriol about a very minor character who had the teremety to not be a Size Zero was infuriating. But I thought this part was relatable.
More David Niven than Hairless Kitty. The art on this post was deliberately chosen because in 1964, Ferguson Dewar was commissioned to illustrate an abridged version of The Hobbit to be published in the magazine New Princess and the Girl which was authorized by Joy Hill at Allen & Unwin and the Professor himself at a rate 15 guineas (£1.05) per published episode of approximately 3500 words each. The dapper fellow in the boat is none other than Gollum himself and this is from an officially authorized adaptation of the book during the Professor's lifetime. In fact Dewar chose to adapt examples of the Professor's art and used a more child friendly style that ironically invokes a Disneyesque feel, especially when you look at artwork of the Dwarves. This created some very unique art that would feel strange and unlovely to our eyes today.

Las Vegas artist wants $4M artwork saved from implosion
8 News Now — Las Vegas

In 1979, craftsmen and artisans labored for over a year to complete the massive stained glass interior dome for the Tropicana Hotel, but now a local artist hopes the ceiling can be saved before a new Major League Baseball stadium shatters a piece of Las Vegas history.

That would be criminal.

He was wrongfully imprisoned for 40 years. Now he’s an award-winning artist: ‘I turned my past into something good’
Gary Tyler was drawn to quilting during his time in Angola prison. This month, LA’s Frieze fair celebrated his deeply personal work

In a tucked-away corner of the Frieze Art Fair in Los Angeles, among the frenzied crowds of the international art market’s trading room floor, lies a quiet respite where one booth seems to operate outside the fray. Its spare hanging of five quilted tapestries quietly asserts its place among the humming blue-chip gallery booths.
It is here that Gary Tyler, a Los Angeles-based artist and formerly incarcerated man, greets visitors and explains the significance of his work – quilted scenes depicting a Black man behind bars, rodeos, and an African Ashanti warrior gazing out at the room. This month, Tyler was awarded the prestigious Frieze Los Angeles Impact prize, an award that recognizes artists who have made significant impacts on society through their work.
Astonishingly, Tyler has managed not just to survive, but to transcend the injustices he faced. He honed his intricate textile skills during the nearly 42 years he spent wrongfully incarcerated at Angola state enitentiary, known to be one of Louisiana’s harshest prisons.

Small nit to pick but it's either a quilt or a tapestry, not both. What he makes are quilts.
That being said, the quilt group at Angola is very well known and has produced several men who are recognized for their works. One guy does mostly rodeo scenes and they are fabulous. The quilt group I facilitate has donated fabric, books, scissors, and thread to the program over the years.
