Jerry Falwell Jr., the disgraced former head of Liberty University, is launching a new set of attacks against the institution he once ran.

Axios reports that journalist Tim Alberta is coming out with a new book in which Falwell Jr. candidly admits that his late father, Jerry Falwell, Sr., founded the university solely to be an institutional arm of the Republican Party and not to be a Christian university aimed at spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ.

In fact, Falwell Jr. is slamming his brother, current Liberty Chancellor Jonathan Falwell, for trying to actually run it like a legitimate Christian educational institution rather than a front for training hardcore culture warriors.

As if that weren't enough, Falwell Jr. said his brother was blowing it by surrounding himself with too many honest people.

Students for Trump founder arrested, accused of assaulting girlfriend

Ryan Fournier, who co-founded the organization as a Campbell University student in 2016 and now leads conservative activist group Radical Alert, was charged with assault of a woman and assault with a deadly weapon after an incident last Tuesday.

According to court records, Fournier grabbed his girlfriend by the arm and hit her in the head with a handgun.

He was released on a $2,500 bond that day. His next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 18.

Radical Alert describes itself as an organization that “exposes” political “radicals” on college campuses. Its social media posts include conspiracy theories tying celebrities and members of Congress to terrorist groups

Fellow Students for Trump co-founder John Lambert was arrested and sentenced to 13 months in prison in May 2021 for posing as a lawyer in a fraud scheme providing bunk legal advice.

Ted Cruz and Tom Cotton's hostility toward Biden nominee Adeel Mangi was "Islamophobic and un-American," said the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations, the largest Muslim civil rights organization in the country, on Friday denounced three Republican senators for their treatment of President Joe Biden’s historic judicial nominee Adeel Mangi during his recent confirmation hearing.

GOP Sens. Ted Cruz (Texas), Tom Cotton (Ark.) and Josh Hawley (Mo.) berated and interrupted Mangi in his Wednesday hearing in the Senate judiciary committee, demanding that Mangi, who is Muslim, share his personal views on the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, the Oct. 7 terrorist attack in Israel and the Israeli-Hamas conflict in general.

The bill lets 14-year-olds work 6-hour night shifts, 15-year-olds work on assembly lines, and 16- and 17-year-olds serve alcohol.

The Senate went through the night, and voted on child labor at 4:52 a.m.

Not to be outdone by Iowa, Indiana says, "Hold mah beer!"

As a man who grew up doing unpaid farm work on the family farm, I can tell you for a fact that no-one does just 40 hours work on a farm. If a job needs to be done it gets done then and there.

Plus if you have not developed the skills and muscle mass for it as a child, starting doing it even at 14 is much harder.

I wonder when its implementation clashes with the International Labour Standards on Child labour, when foreign nations start blocking products made by companies with factories in those states.

As the largest member state and donor of the ILO, the US contributes 22 percent of the ILO’s regular budget each biennium. In 2016, contributions received accounted for approximately $95 million. In addition, the US is the single-largest donor of ILO extra budgetary technical cooperation projects , with over $22 million in funding awarded in 2015.

The US is a member of the ILO Governing Body which is the executive body of the International Labor Office (the Office is the secretariat of the organization). The Governing Body meets three times a year to make decisions on ILO policy, determine the agenda of the International Labor Conference (ILC) , and adopt the draft program and budget of the ILO. The US holds one of the ten titular government seats which are permanently held by states of chief industrial importance (along with Brazil, China, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, the Russian Federation and the United Kingdom). Other government members are elected by the ILC every three years and the last election was in June 2011.

The US has ratified 14 of 189 ILO Conventions, including two of the ILO's core labor standards : No. 105 on the Abolition of Forced Labor and No. 182 on the Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labor. It actively participates in ILO-sponsored meetings and events throughout the year.

Ladies and gentlemen, I have a word for the Republican governors refusing to feed hungry children, at no cost to them: assholes, they are assholes.

Republican governors in 15 states reject summer food money for kids

Moving beyond efforts to block expansion of health care for the poor and disabled, Republican governors in 15 states are now rejecting a new, federally funded summer program to give food assistance to hungry children.

The program is expected to serve 21 million youngsters starting around June, providing $2.5 billion in relief across the country.

The governors have given varying reasons for refusing to take part, from the price tag to the fact that the final details of the plan have yet to be worked out. Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds (R) said she saw no need to add money to a program that helps food-insecure youths “when childhood obesity has become an epidemic.” Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen (R) said bluntly, “I don’t believe in welfare.”
