I actually like the Beverly Hillbillies and the Gilligan's Island themes. Well, the second Gilligan's Island theme. That whole And The Rest still pisses me off. (I had such a crush on the professor.)

The show was only made for three seasons, but I firmly believe, if I were to walk down the street and ask 100 men over the age of 40, "Ginger or Mary Ann?" with no explanation whatsoever, that 90 percent would know what I was talking about and would have a ready answer.
Some day, I'll summon the courage to conduct this unscientific poll.
BTW, my answer would be Mary Ann

The question of which of these two characters fans of the show prefer has endured long after the end of the series. The question has inspired commercials, essays, videos and a sermon. By most accounts, the wholesome Mary Ann has consistently outpolled the glamorous movie-star Ginger by a sizable margin. Bob Denver admitted he was a Mary Ann fan. According to Denver in a 2001 interview, Wells received 3,000–5,000 fan letters weekly, whereas Louise may have had 1,500 or 2,000.

They wouldn't even have to be over 40. My 37 year old son is firmly in the Mary Ann camp, as is my 26 year old nephew.noblepa wrote: ↑Tue Jan 02, 2024 1:40 pm The show was only made for three seasons, but I firmly believe, if I were to walk down the street and ask 100 men over the age of 40, "Ginger or Mary Ann?" with no explanation whatsoever, that 90 percent would know what I was talking about and would have a ready answer.

Mary Ann, no contest.
But what were those people thinking listening to the smart guy instead of the rich guy?

There is such an odd allure of a professionally beautiful person playing the role of someone who isn't. Such characters tend to end up being fan favoriates.much ado wrote: ↑Tue Jan 02, 2024 1:58 pmhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gilligan% ... _Mary_Ann?Ginger or Mary Ann?
