Holy fucking shit. The last ~5 minutes of the earnings call were the craziest.

Elon went on a weird rant about banks and the world economy being bad, interest rates too high, etc. He spoke about 2009 and how Tesla was two days away from not making payroll and going bankrupt.

In his ramblings he was laying the groundwork to justify Tesla going bankrupt due to external circumstances. "Tesla is a great ship but there is a storm even great ships can sink, all ships are affected" (paraphrasing)

The early rebound was only when Elon let his CFO speak. The rest of the chart was all Elon.

But I'm sure behavior like that will encourage more advertising sales.

Cybertruck shows fewer red lights when braking rather than more. Though it does make brighter the lights where you normally expect brake lights. There’s a bar of red lights that goes all the way across when it’s not breaking, and then gets shorter when it is breaking.

Interesting that they don’t put another 3rd brake light on top of the rear glass like they did with the Baja light bar in front. Imagine if the tailgate was down, you’ll only see the two side, honestly don’t know if that’s enough light especially if it’s a foggy night
Also, apparently, it's twice the weight of an F150; 8,000 to 10,000 pounds.

I think that the Cybertruck will take the title of Ugliest Production Vehicle Ever Built from the late, unlamented Pontiac Aztec. The Cybertruck looks like something someone put together in their garage with no tools to work with sheet metal. I've never seen a non-commercial vehicle with such flat sides.

I thought that the 3rd, high-level brake light was a NHTSA requirement. Why does it not have one.

The rearward vision must be virtually non-existent with those flying buttresses behind the window.

Ya, it can stand up to a Tommy gun. Now try it with an AK, or high power AR ammo.

It does have one, at the same height as the side stop lights. Check the video as how the lght bar changes when the brake light turns on.

There used to be a Tesla showroom about 5 miles from my place. Its gone now. I wonder what it means?

It probably means that most peole are buying Teslas on-line in your area, so the need for a showroom is gone, along with the expense of keeping it open.

Keith, you live in Oz, amirite?

Are Teslas really popular there? Do electric vehicles work upside down? I'm trying to visualize.

Yep.
Yep.
Yep.

Visualization exercise: Walk out to the street end of your driveway and stand on you head for 10 or 15 minutes and watch how all the cars, not just electric, work quite well as they go by.

I don't think Foggy understands that gravity also works upside-down in Oz. That's why kangaroos can bounce high. Evolution has provided them with pouches so their joeyx don't fall into the sky if they lose grip mid-leap. That's science. I learnt it at Trump University.

Big battery.
An Eff one fiddy long weighs about 5800 lbs, an eff one fiddy lightning extended range weighs 6800, so not nearly the extra weight you'd think.

The batteries are very heavy but removing the engine and transmission offsets most of it.

The Cyber Dump Truck weighs 8,000 to 10,000 lbs, so apparently Elmo has not figured out the importance of weight conservation.

Especially all those videos of it trying to pull an improperly equipped for comparison F-150 Elmo made. Not only is he pulling agianst the wrong wheelbase and cab configuration, to be fair by gross weight he also ought to be pulling against an F-350 or F4-50 which, not to put too fine a point on it is a whole other kettle of fish.

Some Tesla and all things Elon Musk bashing for those so inclined; I’ve no idea of the veracity of most of the “claims”. About 12 minutes in there are references to, amongst others, Ford that should make Gregg smile:

If you can't lie to yourself, who can you lie to?
