Endorsed Jordan.
Several vulnerable Republicans in purple districts like are cursing to themselves.

House Majority Leader Scalise (R-La.), House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and Republican Study Committee Chairman Kevin Hern (R-Okla.) would participate in the event on Monday at 6 p.m. EST.
The televised forum reflects the highly unusual nature of the race to replace McCarthy — and the intense public interest it is garnering. Though it will be televised nationally, the only people who may cast a ballot for Speaker are members of the House.
It was a bad idea to begin with.raison de arizona wrote: ↑Fri Oct 06, 2023 2:50 pm Well that didn't last long. I was looking forward to the airing of dirty laundry!
It was a bad idea, that's why I liked it so much for them!bob wrote: ↑Fri Oct 06, 2023 2:54 pmIt was a bad idea to begin with.raison de arizona wrote: ↑Fri Oct 06, 2023 2:50 pm Well that didn't last long. I was looking forward to the airing of dirty laundry!
But this all sounds like a rerun of January. I predict a majority of the conference will back Scalise, but the Sore Losers Conference will deny him a majority of the House vote.
I wonder what the Vegas over/under will be for the number of ballots it will take before the pubs realize they are getting nowhere fast and the public is getting tired of their childish games? I say go for 30! Break the record for incompetence.bob wrote: ↑Fri Oct 06, 2023 2:54 pmIt was a bad idea to begin with.raison de arizona wrote: ↑Fri Oct 06, 2023 2:50 pm Well that didn't last long. No. The conference is going to hash it out behind closed doors. I predict Jordan won't get a majority of the conference's votes. So the conference will publicly endorse Scalise.raison de arizona wrote: ↑Fri Oct 06, 2023 2:57 pmYou don't think tfg's golden endorsement is going to push Jordan over the top?

There would be a special election:
In the case of a vacancy in a congressional or legislative office, the Governor shall issue a writ of election, within 14 calendar days of the occurrence of the vacancy, calling a special election to fill the vacancy in accordance with Elections Code Section 10703.
No; the governor calls a special election for the district's voters to elect a replacement.
Technically, already was.
That's a safe R district, yes?Reality Check wrote: ↑Fri Oct 06, 2023 4:00 pmThere would be a special election:

Yep....
Most likely a nice wingnut welfare post with lobbyists...Slim Cognito wrote: ↑Fri Oct 06, 2023 4:06 pm If he's not gone by the special speaker vote, how funny would it be if he voted with the Democrats just to fuck with Gaetz, etc. It's not like he's got a future career in politics.
I know, I know, but a gal can dream...
