Prices go up -- that's basic inflation. You've seen the price for a can of tuna (shrunken from 6 to 5oz without notice) 12 years ago? Fucked all my recipes.

Gas prices have been high since W's Gulf War 2. They go down occasionally, but mainly they have been up since the war to keep your gas prices low.
And for the record, gas prices were 2.14 in 2016 when that Black Guy was userping, rose to 2.72 in 2018 when someone was playing badly at golf, and then dropped to 2.17 in 2020. This has a graph of gas prices since 1990.

You can correct me if I'm wrong, Suranis, but Europe has higher gas prices (in part due to taxes) on petrol.
America wants everything cheap. It doesn't happen. And then they scream.
Re: trump (the former guy)
Yes. you are right. I'll check the prices for you tomorrow, but right now we are at around 1.40 Euros a LITER. At least double and probably triple your prices.
Actually, I just found this website that does a conversion to your prices
https://www.globalpetrolprices.com/Irel ... ne_prices/
Ireland Gasoline prices, 24-May-2021
Liter Gallon
EUR 1.470 5.565
USD 1.798 6.806
So, nearly 7 dollars a gallon. Vroom vroom.

In Switzerland it's something like 80% of the price that are fees and taxes of several kind stacked upon one another, plus VAT added on the total sales price not only on the basic produce price (the federal government gets more cash whenever they tweak the other components ). The greenies socialists think they need to solve the world climate crisis by charging the 8 million inhabitants exorbitant prices thinking that urging them to use public transport rather than personal transport will save the world. They ought to seriously compare the local population count to the largest cities around the globe.
PS. even then we tend to have the lowest gas prices compared to our neighbours.

Reading through that website I found. I found a ranking of each country i terms of Gas Prices. The US is up on the Low end between Panama and Botswana. The cheapest gas in the entire world is in... Venezuela. Most expensive was Hong Kong. Followed by the Netherlands.

I did gas for the first time in some months 2 weeks back and it was something like 3.27, but gas in the Chicago area is always higher. I assume it will be going up here soon, if not already, as they change to their summer blend. It happens every year, well, except maybe last year. I don't remember because I filled up in March and did not go back to a gas station until something like November.

Do you have a hybrid? When we bought a plug in hybrid in 2017, we went from filling up once every two weeks to once every three or four months.northland10 wrote: ↑Thu May 27, 2021 7:43 pm I did gas for the first time in some months 2 weeks back and it was something like 3.27, but gas in the Chicago area is always higher. We are at like $2.87, but I haven't put gas in a car in a while. I don't have to get anywhere. The last time I recall putting gas in a vehicle was my friend's truck, which he let me borrow to go to Home Depot.

No. My gas savings came from working from home.jcolvin2 wrote: ↑Thu May 27, 2021 9:58 pmDo you have a hybrid? Re: trump (the former guy)
When I lived in the midwest, about the time the admins changed from 43 to 44, there was a Facebook meme circulating that showed gas at $1.87 under Bush but well over $2 under Obama. Of course, we were in the middle of the Great Recession at the $1.87 point.
A couple of Obama years later, in our area, it again dropped to 1.87 and I posted a smart-ass Facebook remark about how gas was under $2 and Obama didn't have to have a recession or massive unemployment to get there. The same friend who posted the first FB meme was also the first person to remind me that presidents have almost nothing to do with the price of gas.

May the bridges I burn light my way.

https://www.donaldjtrump.com/desk/desk-ghrgbxyk8u/Ronald Reagan would not be happy to see that the Reagan Library is run by the head of the Washington Post, Fred Ryan. How the hell did that happen? No wonder they consistently have RINO speakers like Karl Rove and Paul Ryan. They do nothing for our forward-surging Republican Party!
Looks like he learned how to do paragraph breaksRINO Paul Ryan, who became a lame duck Speaker of the House, lost all vote-getting capability with the people he represented in Wisconsin, and was the single biggest factor, other than Romney himself, for the monumental Romney/Ryan loss in the Presidential race of 2012 (I got more votes by far, 75M, than any sitting president in history!), and he is now speaking to other Republicans telling them how to win elections. Interestingly, I was in the Great State of Wisconsin when they booed him off the podium—I literally had to come to his rescue.
Ryan should instead be telling them how to stop the cheating of elections and that we would have won if Republican leadership fought the way the Democrats did.
It was the day that Ryan went on the board of Fox (Fox will never be the same!) that Fox totally lost its way and became a much different place, with millions of its greatest supporters fleeing for good. Paul Ryan has been a curse to the Republican Party. He has no clue as to what needs to be done for our Country, was a weak and ineffective leader, and spends all of his time fighting Republicans as opposed to Democrats who are destroying our Country.
As a Republican, having Paul Ryan on your side almost guarantees a loss, for both you, the Party, and America itself!

OMG, but I'm feeling very juvenile. He's got like the biggest ass ever. He tries to hide it with the floater pants he wears, but they are of no use. I guess I'm going to hell for this comment.
