I am assuming his next move is to buy the rights to this:

And justice shall be done.

The web address is still twitter.com, right? Good luck changing the nomenclature. Are people going to start saying, "Check out this X." I still think it sounds porny, (don't judge me).

Also too, if the writers strike ever resolves, Jimmy Fallon does a favorite tweet schtick. I wonder how that will evolve.

‘X’ logo installed atop Twitter building, spurring San Francisco to investigate permit violation
The X appeared after San Francisco police stopped workers on Monday from removing the brand’s iconic bird and logo from the side of the building.
► Show Spoiler
The city of San Francisco has opened a complaint and launched an investigation into a giant “X” sign that was installed Friday on top of the downtown building formerly known as Twitter headquarters as owner Elon Musk continues his rebrand of the social media platform.

City officials say replacing letters or symbols on buildings, or erecting a sign on top of one, requires a permit for design and safety reasons.

The X appeared after San Francisco police stopped workers on Monday from removing the brand’s iconic bird and logo from the side of the building, saying they hadn’t taped off the sidewalk to keep pedestrians safe if anything fell.

Any replacement letters or symbols would require a permit to ensure “consistency with the historic nature of the building” and to make sure additions are safely attached to the sign, Patrick Hannan, spokesperson for the Department of Building Inspection said earlier this week.

Erecting a sign on top of a building also requires a permit, Hannan said Friday.

Parents of Colorado teen allegedly killed by ex-boyfriend say police didn't protect her
“Planning review and approval is also necessary for the installation of this sign. The city is opening a complaint and initiating an investigation,” he said in an email.

For those that cant see it, its like a very powerful floodlight flashing at and lighting up the apartment building opposite. It's lucky the thing hasn't been shot already.

OMG, there's really an apartment across the street and he's blasting the light like that? Somehow I expect that may result in a suit from the owners of the building if the city doesn't make him take down the sigh for not getting a permit before they can file. The apartment owners are likely to lose renters and have a harder time renting the vacated units with that kind of a disruption - and for what people must pay to live in that part of town... yeesh.

San Francisco Inspectors Still Can’t Get On Roof To Inspect Elon Musk’s New ‘X’ Sign

Patrick Hipes
Sun, July 30, 2023 at 6:01 AM GMT+2

The San Francisco Department of Building and Inspection says it has been unable to inspect a new black “X” logo on the roof of Elon Musk’s social media company formerly known as Twitter for two days in a row after the company declined access to the structure.

It’s the latest in the push and pull between the city and Musk since he formally changed Twitter’s name to X this past week as part of the company’s overhaul following Musk’s $44 billion acquisition in October.

On Tuesday, an attempt to remove the company’s iconic blue-bird sign and logo from its Market Street headquarters was rebuffed by city officials who said there was no permit filed, leaving only the “er” remaining from the Twitter logo and one of the birds de-blued.

Fast forward to Friday, when a large black X was erected on the roof of the building, prompting a notice of violation filed with the city for work done without a permit. Any replacement letters or symbols require a permit to ensure “consistency with the historic nature of the building” and to make sure additions are safely attached to the sign, said Patrick Hannan, spokesperson for the Department of Building Inspection.

According to the department’s complaint page after a “notice of violation” was filed, the inspector assigned to the case on Friday “spoke with Tweeter [sic] representatives and Building maintenance engineer representatives. I explained BID’s complaint investigation process and requested access to roof area. Tweeter [sic] representative decline to provide access but did explain that the structure is a temporary lighted sign for an event. I explained to all representatives that the NOV requires the structure to be remove with a building permit or legalize.”

On Saturday, the same inspector reported a “2nd attempt to gain access was performed on 7/29/23 after conversations with property manager on 7/28/23. However, upon arrival access was denied again by tenant. The original NOV document issued on 7/28/23 was redrafted and issued on 7/29/23.”

Despite all of it, Musk pinned an post atop his X page overnight showing the lit X logo on the roof — and wrote he was committed to X staying in San Francisco despite the city being in a “doom spiral with one company or another left or leaving.”

Yes; Fox Plaza apartments.

And Twitter is in that building because the city gave it a massive sweetheart deal to develop that part of town.

A massive, flashing “X” sign atop the social media company's San Francisco headquarters attracted resident skepticism and city inspectors this weekend. On Monday morning, workers took it down.

I think Elmo should move the HQ to Florida -- much more in-line with his ideals. He could buy an office building along the coastal waters and erect his "X" atop his lair without question.

Kanye West is back on Twitter

Mon, July 31, 2023 at 12:29 PM GMT+2

Kanye West (who legally changed his name to “Ye”) is back on Twitter, which is now known as “X.” The account had been suspended for violating Twitter’s rules on inciting violence.

Pretty sure that was the idea. Can't have chain fast food restaurants spoiling the North Fork ambiance. ;)
Off Topic
Lake Forest near hear had something similar but it closed down in 2017 or so because the landlord wanted too much rent. I guess Chase Bank wanted to pay more. It actually took a lawsuit to get it built in the first place. Not really a place you expect in Lake Forest. They did add a drive-thru after a year.

If you look closely, you can see their tiny sign at the lower left.
