The quote is accurate (it’s from the federal statute regarding pretrial release), but the “he doesn’t qualify!” part is not accurate. That is just one of the factors the judge must consider in determining whether he should be released pending trial.sugar magnolia wrote: ↑Tue Jun 13, 2023 10:01 am From a friend who is a retired Chief public defender; How accurate is it? (I have less than no clue how to begin looking up federal code on bond.)HE DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR BOND ON THE NEW INDICTMENT BECAUSE HE IS ALREADY ON RELEASE PENDING TRIAL IN NEW YORK:
This is cut and pasted from the federal code on bond:
Edit: Here’s a link to the statute if you want to read it.

Should Walt Nauta (sp?) be listed on the thread title as well?

We need to get a reporter to chase down Susan Collins and see if she's still clutching her pearls and say tfg learned his lessonMike Pompeo hammers Trump on Fox: “Trump had classified docs when he shouldn’t have had them, and when given the opportunity to return them he chose not to do that .. That’s inconsistent with protecting America’s soldiers .. some of these were pretty serious, important docs.”

New: Trump lawyers and his co-defendant Walt Nauta’s lawyer interviewed prospective defense attorneys together at Doral. Trump also had dinner with his own lawyers, Nauta and Nauta’s lawyer last night at BLT Prime.

Al Jazeera: Trump’s arraignment: The scene outside the Miami courthouse:
A pig’s head on a spike, Uncle Sam on a hoverboard and a frenzy of journalists all waiting for the former president to arrive.

By midday, far more reporters than demonstrators were at the scene.

Interesting. They are separate defendants with separate exposure. I can't imagine them working together as they certainly have conflicting interests.

There you go thinking rationally again, Realist.
Nauta is having dinner with trump because he is dazzled by him and thinks he is the greatest person on earth. He knows that trump will take care of him becasue Trump loves him and it is an honour to have dinner with him as that proves trump cares. Who why should he be worried about having dinner with a fellow defendant?
Trump is having dinner because he things he is the great dealmaker and can get out of this with his charm, good looks and smarts. Having dinner proves Nauta is stupid and proves Trump is smart, and if he keeps buttering up Nauta he wont flip. And at the right time he can somehow pin everything on Nauta and Nauta will take the fall. Nauta is getting the same treatment someone about to be whacked by the Mob would get.

A former US Attorney, SD Florida, Marcos Jimenez (who has known todays judge for 40 years, they were law school study partners) tells Kaitlyn that all federal prisoners have conditions for Supervised Release. He'll be assigned a probation officer. They all include can't have guns, not allowed to talk to felons, can't travel without permission from his PO, PO can visit home anytime, etc. How long before he talks to a felons? We need to keep track to help make sure he obeys his SR.

No one who books a wedding reception at Mar-a-Lago can complain when TFG crashes the party. They had to know that that is a likely event. That is probably the principal reason that they booked the room in the first place; in order to take a selfie with the OSG.northland10 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 13, 2023 8:34 amIn situations where he is not in charge, he can shut up and just sit there with his pouty face. In those times, you see he is no big tough guy. He will clam up not because it is legally smart but because he is weak.
Back home, his platform will be a blaze with his whining and any unfortunate wedding guests will get an earful.

Just heard on CNN, Nauta's attorney is not being paid directly by tfg, but by a Trump allied Political corporation.

Is a guy a felon if he was convicted of a felony, but Trump pardoned him?
Howzabout if he was convicted, but Trump promises to pardon him after he's re-elected?
Howzabout if he was convicted, but he and Trump decided the conviction was unfair?
Because, like every other aspect of MAGAdonia, there's a wide range of what "felon" might mean.

Be that as it may, there's still serious conflicts of interest involved and real legal issues such as attorney-client privilege issues, and more.
